WORK place discrimination , im not sure but i feel im discrimanated against > i work for a temp agancy?

in a wearhouse with a bunch of other woman . im a cacasion none spanish speaking woman , anyway recently they laid off several woman supposidly due to a slow down ( not enough work for all of us ) i have been there for 3 months some days i work faster than on other days depending on the things were doing for that day and how well im feeling , but most of the time i work a steady pace , and other supervisors and employees say im a good hard worker , anyway when they did the lay off or cut back , employees that were hired after me are still working there , there are no other white ladies in my department nor are there any aferican american ladies that work in my department , so my ? is am i being discrimanted against because of my race , i know there were cut backs , in my department there is a list of or was a list of 10 names mine being the 7th i went yesterday and seen the list my name was completly removed and there were now a total of 15 names on the list . please help ,

Update:

there are also males that work there but they are the forklift drivers adn the heavey duty type workers , ie loaders etc . as for the hire on , some have been there for 5 moths adn not hired on , no holiday pay either till u get over 1080 hrs in

Update 2:

the temp agancy has its own wearhouse , well i belive its there own , it says the name of the tem agency _ staffing site , but the owner operator of the company we do the work for also has there own offices etc in the building as well , the laying off isnt the only thing that makes me feel discriminated againt , things that the other ladies dont want to do they will tell the super to ask me , etc , alot of times i get the chity jobs / harder etc or things the others dont want to do , i use to get a lil upset bout this , then i use to say ok with a smile or grin ,and do what i neede , then after words some of the girls would say what happened etc , vbut i would just laugh adn say well i did the work u were asked but u refused , , another thing all meetings were in spanish never translated to me , unless i asked someone one of the other ladies what was said and some could only tell me what they new in english , another thing all safty test were distributed in spansh

Update 3:

like i said i was the only white person working there , before the layoffs /cut backs and still there r no whites in my department or ladies period , nor are there any aferican american women working there , all the supers are hispanic i have seen other whites adn aferican american woman work ther for maybe a day or two and then u dont see them anymore , u figure with them being new that they will call them back seeing how they have some experence in the work even though its only been a week , before hiring a complely new person that need to be trained etc , owe another thing to the plce pays 7 50 per hr , which is less than other temp agencys in california

My husband worked for a temp agency when he was out of work once.. He too was let go near 3 months of employment. Many agencies do this so they don't have to hire you on and give you benefits. The temp agency is making money for every hour that you work, so they don't WANT you to be hired in. I think this is more of a reason that you were let go. It's a horrible practice, but not discrimination. Good luck to you, I know how devistating it can be especially around the holidays.

Lovin is right, this is not about race, but about money. Financially, it is better for both the place of business and the temp agency if you continue to temp.

Hang in, and eventually you'll be placed somewhere where they really want to hire permanent help. You could specify with the agency that you only want temp-to-perm; but that could make it a lot harder to get placed. Talk to your counsellor at the agency about this and see if you can work something out.

If all the people who were laid off are white or black, and all the people who weren't were Hispanic, it does sound like a case of discrimination to me. It could be for other reasons, but I would take a serious look at the discrimination issue. Lots of lawyers will work on contingency, so you won't have to pay a penny unless you win your suit. Try and find one like that and see if he or she will take your case. I have experienced similar types of "reverse discrimination" and it is maddening. Good luck!

yes, affermative action, which hires minoritys over(usally white males but if your work is all women it would just be the white part)That is such BS it is suppose to right the wrongs of the past well now it is creating a whole new set of wrongs on whites
