Ever wonder why gas mileages haven't improved in cars during the past 40 years?

I recently read an article in a popular auto magazine about one of my favorite cars, the Volkswagen Squareback. I found out that even in the late 1960's. This car got around 33 mpg. Then I realized that is about what cars get today. I wondered why, with all of the advances in technology. Why has this not improved? My question was answered today. Click on the link and educate your mind. It all boils down to the Government, Lobbyists, and the protection of Union Auto Workers jobs. Are we not intelligent enough to think our way out of the box?

Or it could be that the auto companies have been giving us what we want all this time.

In 1983, a Toyota Camry had 92 horsepower, weighed around 2500 lbs, and achieved a little over 40 mpg. Now the Camry has 268 hp, weighs over 3500 lbs, and yet people are suprised when it only gets mid 20s for gas mileage.

Horsepower and weight kill mpg. Toss in a weak engine, lose the safety devices, and you will get better mileage. But that's not how Americans roll. Want 500 hp, and 50 mpg, but it's just not possible, so as far back as the late '80s, we took the hp over the mpg. Thats the way the industry has gone ever sence.

concept i might want to throw my hat contained in the hoop by ability of declaring, the reason they spend a lot on beauty surgical procedure is the medical doctors cost way too a lot, and they would not want beauty surgical procedure if society wasn't so judgmental on how human beings look. We as a society have created this difficulty alongside with many others, and once you communicate about how a lot you've given and boast about it, you've basically were given your reward as Christianity teaches, so no i'd not stick with on your footsteps, this is sin in accordance to the Bible. On a fact experience i can tell if the wealthy or nicely to do helped the undesirable and needy, we may all basically be mediocre, and that is a lifeless ringer for communism, some thing i'm no longer to stupid about, yet wait you probably did not say the undesirable might want to ought to paintings we may basically provide it to them and help them out. i imagine we already attempt this, its observed as social advice and our taxes conceal that fee alongside with generating jobs for social workers. So we are already giving to the undesirable, we basically are not any more boasting about the sturdy we are doing. genuine charity comes from the middle and is not any longer measured by ability of the media and what others imagine, this is finished in secret so that you do not humiliate the needy or crown the giver.

Car Manufacturers and Oil Companies are working under one Owner or at least earn royalties each.

It is also in opposite with Microsoft and Processors, or the PCmakers they earn a buck of Millions on its sales and upgrades. An upgrades on Microsoft OS means an upgrade on PC.

Microsoft upgrades OS, for new Upgraded PCs-

    New PC- New Incomes

    New OS-New Incomes

Automobiles doesnt upgrade for more oil use.

Upgraded Autos Gas Mileages - No Oil Incomes

i've always thought the car makers were in with the oil companies. We deal in cars and bought a minivan that was a freakin 4 cylinder - didn't realize they even made 4 cylinder minivans. The motor wasn't big enough to pull the damn van!

It sucked gas so bad we couldn't sell it. We finally had to dump it at a sale.
