Favorite event of the year?

Finally, it is here!

We are expecting our first "winter storm" and it is bringing my "favorite" early winter event: the over hype of weather!

Depending on the channel, the "reporters" are predicting anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow, then up to a half inch of freezing rain.

If history is any predictor, we will get from nothing, to a blizzard (probably nothing).

So, "in your neck of the woods", do you think the weather forecasters are doing you a favor by over hyping storms, or are just fear mongering?

They are just plain irritating most of the time, but, their doing a lot better with their forcasting, since the station put windows in the weathermans office.

Weather forecasters go overboard and exaggerate because people wouldn't be as angry if nothing happened opposed to if the forecasters said, "no big deal, a half inch of snow the most" and we get 12 inches. They don't know what heck is going to happen. All they can do is tell us the "conditions are favorable" and let mother nature take care of the rest.

I actually prefer the hype during the summer when it is severe thunderstorm season. That to me is more exciting then the white stuff. I HATE winter!

LMAO the over hype is great!!! I find it amusing that they get it so wrong. But then again maybe we all have a bit of kid in us that looks forward to seeing the first flakes of snow. It lets us know that X mas is almost here. The meteorologists are just big kids hoping for snow ( and more air time!!!)

i hate when the weather reporters do that, last year we were supposed to get 4-6 inches and all we got was a light dusting. fortunately the scare closed schools for the day lol
