Does water boil quicker at a higher atmospheric pressure, or a lower on?

By quicker I mean at a lower temperature than 212 degrees fahrenhieght. That's the sea level boiling point.

    Lower pressure.

Water boils at a lower temperature at say Denver (about 203 degrees F.) than at sea level. Changes is atmosheric pressure at any altitude will cause slight variations in the boiling point.

Also, automobiles that are driven at higher altitudes require re-jetting of the carburettor or program adjustments in fuel injected models to operate properly.

The main principle at work here is the ever popular PV=nRT.

Pressure*Volume=number of moles*gas constant*Temperature. So, the same amount of moles of water at a lower pressure will consequently have a lower boiling point. The higher you go, the less pressure, and the lower the boiling temperature.

So yes, it will take less time to get the water to this lower temperature, and it will boil faster.

If you climb a mountain, the air pressure falls and you find that water boils at a lower temperature. In extreme altitudes the change can be quite pronounced.

At 10 000 ft - the altitude of many ski resorts - water boils at about 90C or 190F. There's a calculator on the link.

yes it boils at a lower temperature as answered above. If you are cooking at altitude you may need a pressure cooker to get the same results you did at home.

krithika loopy gave You an entire answer. i'm going to in basic terms upload difficulty-loose experience assistance. At sea area aspects, seashores, the purpose or elevation is the comparable as oceans, the decrease point, over earth, meaning the better atmospheric stress. with the aid of the different, on the Himalayas, the Andes mountains and the different peak land, meaning decrease atmospheric pressures. below atmospheric disturbances, like hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, the atmospheric stress behaves distinctive. to illustrate, over the oceans or close to the coastal areas, the place the better stress is, if a vacuum is originated with the aid of a typhoon, typhoon, the stress can low fairly, and this vacuum consequence will entice clouds, moist hundreds of air, and fairly some wind forces, all substantial actors on a typhoon, typhoon or tropical typhoon. that is declared that interior the "eye" of a typhoon, there's a void, actually with an exceedingly low stress, or a vacuum consequence. with the aid of fact the backside is the stress or optimum the vacuum, the typhoon or typhoon is extra advantageous. maximum of those procedures are temporal (luckily), with the aid of fact below ordinary situations, on the sea point, you'll have continuously the better atmospheric stress, and on the better lands or mountains, you'll have the fewer atmospheric stress.
