I can't say that I hate them. Just the fact that I can never get into the movie. My 2 brothers and mom LOVE them. They collected all of them. Maybe one of these days I should try to watch them again.

I've never heard anyone put down the "Star Wars" saga! I've seen some nasty comments on Y!A, obviously people trying very hard to not be part of any crowd. They're the ones who attack any popular film. I myself admit to attacking films, but it's from the basis of a film buff who knows what she does and doesn't like. I date further back than most people on Y!A, so I'm not fretting about cliques. These people attack, but no doubt they were once "Star Wars" fans and now think it's kids' stuff or nerdy~now that THEY no longer are involved in the fandom.
That's OK. I've loved science fiction since the Fifties, and I'm used to being on the outside because the majority didn't see this genre as I did. I was a "Star Trek" fan from Episode #1's first showing, and I remained loyal to the show and occasionally I would find another fan. Too many people think that it isn't cool~or whatever the present word is~to be enthused about something, unless it's some new passion they develop.
So, just ignore them because they are vastly outnumbered by those who love and admire these six films that are a remarkable achievement by George Lucas and the people he gathered together to achieve these dreams on film. Lucas' works helped rescue 20th Century Fox then the rest of Hollywood as the demand for sci fi/fantasy/horror was sparked. Undoubtedly, he helped inspire other film industries to either join in or increase their efforts. Lucas proved there is an audience for these movies.
I am a science fiction fan, and I'm not afraid to talk about it. I go to Renaissance faires and other events, at which practically everyone is into sci fi; and, I attend conventions! I am a Trekkie, not a Trekker. I'm an original fan and proud of it!

I am not a 'fan' but I do own the DVDs of the original three. Most people my age (36) and younger in Britain have seen and enjoyed the films, and it is socially acceptable to be overheard in the workplace having a conversation about it, same as it is with sports for example. But only the very young ones like, or will admit to liking, the prequels.
Being a Trekkie, on the other hand, is NOT socially acceptable, and with good reason. I am racist against Trekkies.
