Do Christians think everything we do is based on fear?
Every fifth question starts "Are atheists afraid..." and then makes a (usually false) assumption about atheist thought or behavior. Do Christians understand that people sometimes act in certain ways based on something other than fear of the consequences of acting differently?

That would be very hypocritical considering the fact that the christian religion is based on fear.
If it wasn't,there would be no need for the concept of hell.

A lot of Christians who make false assumptions about atheists were probably born into a Christian family, raised Christian, and spent most of their time around other Christian people. They probably don't understand the actual reasoning behind atheism, or why a person would come to the conclusion that God doesn't exist.
Either that, or they're just trolling.
Those of us who haven't always been Christian understand. Or at least most of us do.

I'm shaking in my heathen boots, aren't you. It must really suck for them to live in fear that every step they take just might be the wrong one. That reacting to natural animal instinct just might earn them a one-way ticket to a fiery abyss.
Some parts of the religion are beautiful and FULLY righteous, but some are just senseless mind control.

I serve the Lord because He loves me and wants the best for me, He takes away fear. If I only serve the Lord out of fear, then I could not have the peace and joy that He gives to me.
Sorry, I did not answer your question as asked, I got more wrapped up in the other answers. I do not know, I do not judge you, only you know what you base your beliefs or nonbeliefs.

I guess that's what happens when you are raised to be good due to hopes of avoiding fire and brimstone and eternal damnation in the long term, and with hopes of not being subjected to the rod in the short term. Parents who think that children are only good when they are cowering in fear of them will raise those kids to think that they must teach their own children that same respectful terror. And, so the cycle goes...

A good portion of themselves live in fear. It's drilled into them and cannot fathom that no one else would not have such fears. That is why they don't recognized that it is their own fears they are projecting.

If you mean the reverential fear of God, then yes - I would have to agree with you.

Mainly because they are fearlings.
