Why did Bush lie about Iraq's WMD when he knew there was none?

I doubt that we will ever know for sure or in detail. Many of the key players, including Powell and Rumsfeld have stated that they were not consulted about going to war with Iraq. I.E., many of these things appear to be closely held secrets that only Bush and Cheney were in on. And neither of them is likely to ever tell the truth.
Incidentally, don't listen to the drumbeat of respondents who claim that EVERYONE was sure Iraq had WMD and that the UN had been "kicked out" and/or prevented from doing its inspecting. See the following link-it's a report from the UN Inspectors, shortly before the invasion, stating that Iraq was complying with the inspector's requests. Many of todays politicians, including Clinton, Kerry and others requested Bush to hold off until the inspections were complete-as did many of the countries (Germany, France, Russia, Canada, Mexico, etc.) who believed they had WMD but wanted the US to wait until inspections were finished.
In other words, Bush did not want the inspectors to find NO WMD, so he invaded before the inspections could be completed.
An interesting theory, however, involves the NeoConservative movement of which many of Bush's more powerful underlings were members, and Bush, in his unworldliness and intellectual laziness, was an easy puppet to them. Check out the BBC TV special, "The Power of Nightmares", aired a while ago. It is available on DVD and does a detailed and provocative job of interpreting the Neocon movement and how it led to Iraq.

After the 9/11 attacks that declared war on the US, we were delayed by the UN for a year and a half before being able to invade Iraq and bring Saddam Hussein to justice. There is proof that there were WMD that the media never would report. The military had infrared film that shows the convoy's loading and leaving from the warehouse they were made and stored. With infrared cameras they followed the convoy where they entered Syria with the WMD. They had a year and a half to dispose the evidence.Even after we invaded Iraq military intelligence later found biological agents that confirmed there were WMD made and stored in the buildings they saw the convoy's leave from. But... there are certain groups in the government still denying there were WMD. I saw the film on the History channel!

I am not so sure it was for the oil not anymore. I think it has more to do with why Bush-co keeps pushing the fake Bin Laden tapes as "the real deal",this mess he has made in Iraq and other places is a global plan I think to what end or beginning I do not know.why did Bush lie about the wmds ,because it was and is part of the crazy plan he started 7 years ago. why is always to be speculated and the truth is the gut feeling we all have here in America, just fail to do anything constructive with it....Iraq was suppose to be a part of the revenge cycle of 911 I thought, turns out Saudi was behind 911 as the proof shows ,hijackers from Saudi ex-CIA says they trained the list goes on but no one cares anymore.....chow freepress

President Bush didn't lie about WMDs. The WMDs were said to be there by a German intelligence agent. The agent passed the information, which was later proven to be bogus, to the US and its allies. President Bush, as well as Clinton, believed the WMDs were there after all Saddam had used nerve gas on his own people and threatened to use more.
A lie means that someone knowingly said something that wasn't true. President Bush believed it was true therefore it wasn't a lie.

I really believe he thought they were there. He heard what he wanted to hear.
This is why I place part of the blame for the war on the UN. If the UN had enforced the inspections and other sanctions on Iraq, we would not have had a reason to invade.

The jury is still out on WMD's we need to keep looking, like the jury is still out on the Bush Presidency, like we need further study on whether cigarette smoke is harmful, like if there is Global Warming, like if the economy is in a recession, like if gas prices really did jump..., etc.

He wanted an excuse to invade Iraq to get the oil and to perform his acts of revenge against Saddam for Saddam's failed atttempts to assassinate his father. Typical republican response- money and revenge.

First of all, the UN, the inspectors, Clinton(both Bill and Hillary), Albright, the majority of Congress, et. al. believed the prevailing intelligence, reporting the existence of WMDs. Don't tell us that Bush knew there were none. Just how did he know... especially when most of you Bush-bashers don't think he can tie his shoes!
If Bush lied, please include Clinton, and everyone else in this accusation.

He didn't lie. He was merely going off of the same intelligence information that was used by BJ Clinton, Joe Lieberman, Al Gore, John Kerry, et al, when each of them stated that Hussein had WMDs and was an imminent threat to US security.

Because he is a murderous neofascist warmonger who gets off on causing suffering and wants to destroy the USA just like all repKons.
It furthers the repKon ambition to install a permanent neofascist oligarchy in North America.
