I highly suggest you check out the site I linked below, Wine Library TV. Here's how the site describes itself:
"Gary Vaynerchuk, the star of Wine Library TV, is Director of Operations at Wine Library in Springfield, NJ...But it troubled Gary to observe the stuffiness of the industry-conceited sommeliers, snobby shopkeepers unwilling (or unable) to educate their consumers, and seemingly mystical conventions all combine to make wine seem intimidating to the uninitiated. Wine Library TV seeks to change all that."
And today's episode is titled "90 Point Wine and Under $10. How Good Are They?" (He tastes a 2006 Mill Creek Sauvignon Blanc, a 2006 Panarroz Jumilla Red, and a 2004 Terrebrun Bandol Rouge.)
I think you'll find his vlog really entertaining. He tastes wine from under $10 to into the cost-prohibitive stuff (for me, anyway), so there's something for everyone. I just watched the episode he did outside in a snowstorm (to see if the temperature would affect the wine or his ability to appreciate its taste)--hilarious!
I'm sure you'll find that there are lots of bottles under $15 that are really good. My favorite right now is a cabernet sauvignon-shiraz blend that I got at Wal-Mart for $4. I felt cheap, too, but it's actually a pretty good wine (and I found out later that it has won awards for value). I can't recall the name, but I'll add it later if I find it.
Good luck!

Sure! Any French bordeaux that is around $15 will usually be decent. $20 and under can get you a really spectacular one. Just get one from a good year (2000,2001 might be feasible for $20).
Also, in the $10 price range are some really great reds from Chile and Argentina.
Most shirazs $10 and above are good, too.
Try Ravenswood Vintner's Blend 2004 Shiraz. It's around $8 or so, and a darn good bottle of wine.

My favorite is Blauberg, it's a really lovely South African wine that has a taste reminiscent of tart apples. It runs about 7 to 8 dollars and is well worth the money.

I prefer the Australian wines. Yellow Tail Merlot is about $8 a bottle. I like to sample different Australian wines and see which ones people think are expensive. Then I like to surprise them by telling them how much they cost.

A large percentage og them meet this criteria. I rarely go over 15 for a table wine and am happy with my selection in most cases.
Its a matter of Trial and Error.

Do you have a trader Joe's store in your area? If not smaller specialty stores usually have local wines with really cool looking labels that taste good for under $15.

Oh sure there are, just look around in the section, and if you are unsure ask the clerk if they know wines. most are really open to helping you find a good wine in the price range you prefer.

not many reds but you can get a good bottle of sauvignon blanc for about 15. I would look for Caroline Bay, Cloudy Bay or pretty much anything from Marlborough county New Zealand.
