Is there a way to read old instant messages??
Do you know if theres a way that you can find old IMs from your computer or screen name, so that you can read them? Once you delete out of the IM conversation, is it gone for sure.

Unless you've been using a latets version of messenger which logs the IMs, you won't be able to. Or unless you had some kind of recoridng software, or saved the texts, which I doubt you have since you are asking this question. The answer's no, old IMs which were never saved, if used by older versions of messengers which do not record the IM, once the IM window is closed, the chat is gone.

Both MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger have the ability to save all chat message interchanges. You have to go to the preferences of each program to make sure that this function is enabled. In Yahoo messenger go to messenger>preferences>archive
In MSN go to options>messages>message history
