how long does standard flat rate shipping take?

the distance is from new york to california.

    Depends on the shipping method.

    UPS Ground and FedEx Ground both take 5 to 6 business days depending on shipping locations in New York/California.

    USPS Parcel post can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks, and I wouldn't be surprised if it took even longer. USPS is notorious for late/lost packages.

    I'm not sure about DHL's Ground shipping, but I'd assume its similar to UPS's/FedEx's.
