McDonald's- Good or Bad?
I'm doing research for a final year paper on the McDonalds brand. The question is:
Is your opinion of the McDonld's brand GOOD or BAD?
If you give more information, (like do you eat there, would you give the food to children, etc) you are more likely to win 10 points, but if not, just one word is fine.

There are so many ways to measure whether or not any company is good or bad. You final answer will depend on what you're are trying to rate.
From a business standpoint, for the most part, McDonald's is good. It has international brand recognition. Just about anyone in a developed or developing nation will recognize Ronald McDonald or the Golden Arches as representing McDonald's. They have managed to diversify their menu to meet the "needs" of each country that they are in. They have a very successful franchise business as well as corporate owned restaurants. Their products, good or bad, are generallly consistent from location to location so their customers always know what to expect.
From a social-economic pespective, they are good and bad. Their food is not particularly expensive compared to other fast food restaurants. They are accessible to everyone regardless of social-economic-political status. Essentially, they'll take anyones money. At some levels, they give back to the community (i.e. Ronald McDonald House). They've certainlly enriched their long-time stockholders and successful franchisees.
From a health perspective, they are mostly bad. Like most fast food, many of their items are very high in carbohydrates, fat, and sodium. They're advertising is ever present and certainly they do as much as they can to catch the attention of children. While they are beginning to offer "healthier" alternatives, they have a long way to go. On the other hahd, no one forces anyone to go to McDonalds, over-order or over-eat.
So, bottom-line? For me McDonalds is neither good nor bad. It is a company that I'll visit maybe once or twice a year when i have a particular craving or nothing else is available.

I eat there when on road trips just for simplicity, but other than that not usually. It's not horrendous when eaten in moderation, it's when you eat foods like that all the time that it is bad for you. Did none of your parents or grandparents never fry chicken in oil? Come on people, live a little bit. And I will agree that some of it is mystery meat, but unless you personally take your animal to the butcher shop and watch it get cleaned and processed, do you really know? Nope. Would I feed McDonald's to my family? Again, on occasion. My kids can scream all they want, all it will do is buy them more asparagus when we get home!
Essentially, yes, most of it is truly bad for you. Sad thing is the chicken nuggets are actually better for you than the burgers, and don't get me started on the fries. And for the genius that said the mcflurry has fat- no kidding- There's milk in them, and candy in most! While any salad is pretty decent for you, even those are traps if you get the crispy chicken or the wrong salad dressing. It all comes down to personal responsibility- something people are far too willing to try to pass around these days.

It's good if you're in a rush and don't eat there too often. It's bad if you eat there all the time. Also, I would have to add that their Ronald McDonald House is a legitmiate charity that helps the familes of children with terminal illness. I know someone that actually stayed there when their child was in the hospital and they said they were really nice to them during their stay.

Bad in general, but like many places there are ways to have a balanced healthy meal there (salad with no chicken or grilled chicked, subbing apple dippers for fries -although it aggravates me that they peel the apple). There doesn't seem to be any healthy options on the breakfast menu either. Personally though, I don't think it's fair for McDonalds to be chastised the way it had been, they are making steps to make the consumer more aware (nutrition info is on wrappers now), I think it's up to the consumer to eat fried/fat filled meals in moderation and educate themselves about what they put in their mouth. If people use their $ to show they want healthier choices, then MCDonalds will close down or adapt.

If you know how to eat healthy it is good. I am a manager, and I manage to eat healthy every day I work. Grilled Chicken patties are only 100 calories each. Apple Dippers are 0 calaries and then if you add the caramel it is 70 calories, or could be less, Im not positive on that one, but it's either 35 or 70.
But when you see people coming through ordering Double Quarter pounder meals large size, then they want to turn around and blame McDonalds for being overweight, that makes our brand look bad.

I love their food.
I eat there every day. I have for years now. The Angus burger is yummy!!!
I never saw the documentary on Micky D's, but know it was against the restaurant.
My health is great: normal blood pressure, normal sugar levels, normal cholesteral levels. I run and lift weights at leats 2 times a week. Play basketball add keep up with the 20-somethings and I'm 43.
McD is not hurting my health on bit from what i can tell.

I am not a fan. I haven't eaten there in over 2 years and I probably wont ever go back. I do eat fast food though. I prefer Wendy's over anybody else, although I do still eat Burger King. It is the only fast food place that messes with my insides and makes me feel sick. I am not a parent yet, but when I am I am sticking with Wendy's.

Exceedingly bad. These type of food chain outlets (I refuse to call them restaurants, because they are not) are symptomatic of the American way of life - fast, easy, standard, dull, tasteless and rich. More has been written about the pros and cons of McDonald's than any other food outlet.
Whilest McDonald's itself has aknowledged its former "recipe" meals contained an inordinately high amount to fat, especially trans fats. Trans fats are unsaturated fats with trans isomer fatty acids. These have a higher melting point, making them more attractive for baking, and extend shelf life (!).
Unlike other fats, they are not required for nor beneficial to health. McDonald's has been reducing the amount of trans fats in its offerings, but the proportions are still high when compared to "ordinary" food.
Thus, I would not touch a McDonald's withe a proverbial barge pole, but I would allow my children the occasional one, if they wanted. More than that is out of the question.

this is your topic? bad topic, but anyways...
Good and Bad.
I eat there.
I work there.
I would only give my child it if we were rushing less then once a month.
To eat any form of fast food, you must use it in moderation. Some people get lazy and just eat it for everything. Fast food was made for on-the-go and now people abuse it and in turn have become FAT. When I was a kid, the only time we ate fast food was on vacation. I eat there a lot now, only cause I work there and it is free on my break. I eat it in moderation and less too. I like to pick the healthy choices out too, instead of always eating the one with the most calories.

No, I don't eat there frequently. I have a bad opinion on mcdonalds because their burgers are all floppy. It all has either salt or sugar. (I think the water is the only healthy thing there.) Probably the only reason I would go there is because they have Nintendo WiFi, or to use the bathroom on a roadtrip.
