Should these unfair tactics to get best answer be allowed?

I noticed that many people are now using this tactic where they post a short and often incorrect or meaningless answer quickly so that they get the 1st answer to the question. They would then wait until other people provided correct and detailed answers. Finally they would edit their answer presumably using the other answers and give their own correct and detailed answer.

This then gives them the best chance of getting best answer.

I would suggest that Yahoo changes the system so when you edit an answer it then gets shifted down so it becomes last on the list. What do you think?

yeah, either last on the list, or not allowing editing. Maybe they could allow people to add to their submission but not edit what was previously submitted and time stamp each addition.

    Your suggestion needs serious consideration.

While many people (including myself) use the Edit function with honest intentions, there could be some who misuse the facility.

I think YA could consider adding an automatic remark that reads something like 'This answer has been edited by the answerer after the first post', and all such edited answers with this remark could appear at the end of the then last answer received. This remark would alert the readers/voters who might be able, in some cases, to judge whether the edited answer was stolen or not.

You would have also noticed that when an answer gets edited, YA does not inform the asker that an earlier answer has been edited. Maybe YA should send an e mail whenever an earlier answer has been edited.

I don't think they should. People who want the first answer are just lacking the sincere motivation of helping people (since they do it for themselves and the points), but removing the "EDIT" option, or getting penalized for editing is something I can't agree with.

As a mathematician, I help out a lot over in the "Mathematics" section of Y! Answers. Being human, I sometimes make mistakes - most of which I realize when I look at other answers provided by other users. I want to Edit my answer for the correct one, and not leave the incorrect one behind. I'm also a spelling freak, so any typos get edited immediately!

I'd be embarrassed if I couldn't correct my answer (or spelling) - I don't think one should be punished for editing :-)

    Hope I helped!

That's cheap. But not all folks do that. I say leave it, because to change a website as big as Yahoo! Answers, you gotta get a bunch of technicians, change all the servers, and spend weeks doing it. It costs a lot. Yes, I'd like it changed, but who's gonna pay for it?

Also, if you're like me, some people check it the minute they get a new answer, so they can immediately write it off as a good or bad answer before they can do that. Naturally, the asker will not read the modified answer. So just leave it.

There are many different people who use Y!A who are not honest or normal. Most people come on here to get help, to have fun, and to answer questions....anonymously.

It took me a while....about a couple of weeks....not to take everything so seriously. There are many good and honest people on Y!A. Concentrate your thoughts positively on these people, and not the Y!A system. You'll get your share of best answers despite these people.

My suggestion: Use something of your daylight hours hours to actively hunt for yet another activity. do not quit this one, however, till you hit upon yet another one. meanwhile, save attempting to earnings the artwork. you're probably previous the toughest section, and now that is generally a count of performance and velocity. i'm hoping you could save your solid telephone manners. some sufferers call and want to grant you their finished existence background, yet someplace in there is the substantial ingredient. no person demanding approximately their wellbeing merits to be dealt with brusquely. that is too undesirable which you hit upon the tense %. of this workplace so perplexing to deal with. yet docs are conscious that what could appear like a "little" mistake to you are going to be able to desire to consequence in severe problems with a affected person. They call for a intense degree of performance and accuracy. i think of they are practising fake financial gadget to anticipate somebody with primary workplace experience to settle in straight away with the particular standards of a hectic scientific workplace. There are coaching classes in colleges and technical colleges for that, and maybe they could desire to have employed somebody who already got here with such credentials. yet save attempting till you hit upon something greater beneficial. you're getting to grasp under hearth, yet you're getting to grasp!
