or do more agressive children prefer video games? THAT is the question.
My kids play Dead Rising, Gears of War, Resident Evil, etc., TOGETHER with my husband and I. They know the difference between real life and games because we talk to them about it. Kids are only going to freak out if there is no follow up on what they see.

Interesting question but the answer is too simple....NO.
Video games have always had problems in this area especially with people that don't play them, movies went through the same when they first appeared, they were criticized by people that didn't understand them, people that enjoyed going to the theatre and saw a menace in a new entertaiment.
The real deal comes with the player, if he or she has a mental
decease, this person will be affected either by videogames, movies or soap operas but nobody says anything about the rest.
On the other hand it has been proven that video games improve reflexes logical thinking and vocabulary also parents that are not responsible must assume their role and stop blaming videogames for children's aggression.

LIke all things. Yes and No. It depends on the child, the game and the overall situtation. My son says video games allow him to go on a rampage without hurting anyone. Then again he knows that it is a video game and that what he does in it is not allowed in real life and most of what he does in the games is not even possible in real life. Some children cannot make that distinction, or that distinction is not reinforced in the behaviors displayed by their parents. My son is 15, has been playing video games for over ten years (and yes even the violent ones such as GTA SA)

I think video games can trigger violent behaviour in anybody but only if they have an aggressive and violent personality to begin with + some mental problems.
The majority of children, especially males play video games and I can't think of an example where a video game has been cited for an aggressive act that's been imitated or fuelled by content in a game.
Its difficult to give examples as I can't think of any cases to do with this, though I'm sure their are some.

It's all in the persons style if they R usually "bad, likes to imitate", they will get aggresive and violent by playing a game or watching t.v/movie that's violent.
If they understand that the stuff R 4 fun tnen they won't get violent or any other negative thing.
99% of people I know do not get violent, 1% R usually a bad influence and what they watch, read gets them a little worst.
I'm 21 and i've been playing video game since I was aprox. 4 and I haven't gotten aggresive same goes 4 the media.

Yes, that's true. However, scientist have proven that video games may play a significant role in fulfilling several psychological needs of human, which ultimately carve out way for better mental health. Video games make children think and practice their reflexes. They make children plan logical reasonings and clever strategies. Such as, in war games. Also, gives them some additional informations they may not know like informations about history, additional vocabularies and informations on the natural sciences. Video games are not all bad...

i think there's a correlation between enjoying violent video games and aggressive habit in actual existence, yet i don't think of that the video games are inflicting the habit. i understand a great type of game enthusiasts, and a great type of of them play violent video games (rated T or M for violence, blood, language, etc.). of those game enthusiasts that i understand, a number of them could nicely be somewhat aggressive while interacting with human beings (on the whole verbally aggressive, yet not many times bodily aggressive). although, i understand just about as many people who play violent video games only as many times, or much extra so, yet are clever, comfortable, and advantageous. a number of my gaming buddies are the countless least aggressive human beings i understand. I additionally play video games, in general first guy or woman shooters. even with the simulated violence in those video games, I in no way get any violent urges. in keeping with my adventure, if there's a favorable correlation between enjoying those video games and being violent in actual existence, then that's maximum possibly because of the fact aggressive human beings are extra drawn in the direction of those video games, and not because of the fact those video games carry out human beings's aggression. and that's my 2 cents.

I don't believe they do, basing the mind of a child upon what they learn from playing games is stupid, i doubt Hitler played video games, i doubt Stalin and Polpot had DOOM on their computers. People who are aggressive and violent don't base these traits on games but on personal experiences and the teachings they have been given by the adults around them. Mario isn't that much of an influence.

No this is nothing more than a myth created by parents to make them stop playing video games. For example another one of these is that watching too much TV gives you square eyes.

i dont think so video games for most are a way to escape the real world, because one of the reasons could be that there getting bullied at school or having problems at home the games are a way of getting away from those problems tempereraly i have got a friend that says he plays the games because he doesnt like himself or at the moment life due to bullying and games are a way for him to escape from that for a while. (dont know if that will help)
