How do US Christians reconcile Good American, Moral & Upstanding Citizen, Good Person with Non-Christian?

Non-Christian as in atheist, Muslim, Buddhist, Witch, Druid, agnostic, Taoist, Hindu, Sikh, Voodun, and so on and so forth.

Update:

By reconcile, I don't mean to make friends or engage diplomatically. By reconcile, I mean to integrate concepts that may logically appear to be mutually exclusive in the paradigm of some Christians, as displayed by answers and questions here.

A better question would be how evangelical Christians can reconcile their zealotry with patriotism and the Bill of Rights, considering that the country was set up to be far from being a theocracy.

It is very simple. Anyone can be a good person; religion doesn't matter.

I am a Christian. I never said there was anything to be reconciled.

There are many good people out there who aren't Christian. What's the big deal?

In the original Hebrew text of the Bible. The word Christian litteraly means Christ Like. It is not by works or good deeds we are savedbut by the blood of Christ. See you can't get to heaven by what you do, or who you are, wich alot of people, non-christians, buddhist, and so on believe. Christians are good people also, however every one of us fall short of the glory of God. That is why it is by faith we believe and not by works so no man can boast.

I'm not sure what you are trying to reconcile. Good people are good, bad people are bad. What have US Christians got to do with it?

We are all free to be whatever we wish to be. As long as we don't hurt others, I see no problem at all. We must resist the temptation to be nosy busy bodies.

    They don't.

US Christians (the conservative literalist ones, anyway) love to pretend that you can't possibly be a non-Christian and be a good person.

They basically shrug their shoulders and say "Well, it was their choice to reject Christ, so they chose Hell for themselves".
