My orphan daughter in Chennai got malaria 3days ago. What are low cost or freeremedies to ease her suffering?
I support her from the USA. She grew up motherless without shelter 15 years now getting an MBA with postTB ear pain too. I learned today she should take only hot water with Horlick's and rice kanchy. It was ironically from a Catholic priest come here from Chennai. Does anyone have any other advice for her to ease her suffering and pain and fever? what's a good way to get through all this?

Quinine( or a form of it) is the medication used to treat malaria. Here is a link to the Mayo clinic that discusses the treatment of malaria. Its my understanding that quinine isnt an expensive medication.

i have spent a good deal of time in africa taking care of children with malaria as a nurse in bush clinics and hospitals. one thing i always took with me to give to the kids was plain old tylenol. if the is greater than 6months old she can also take motrin. their temperatures can get upwards of 104 F. that can cause a lot of discomfort for them. the tylenol and motrin can really help with the fever. that is something simple that you can send that will really make a big difference with her comfort level. also encourage her to be treated with an antimalarial medication. a lot of time they resort to traditional medicine first and by the time they go to the hospital for care their hemoglobin has droped entirely too much and it is too late to help.
