How come Atheist say OMG when they don't believe in God?

It has to do with past indoctrination, alot if not most Atheists at one point were religious. So sometimes it slips out but it is just based on memory.

GOD is such a commercial entity these days that if it were not for church it would mean nothing at all. Especially in the abbreviated form it means nothing what-so-ever. OMG is an internet expression that should not be taken in or out of context. Its no different then when people reply with "ty" when they mean thank you or "lol" when they mean laughing out loud. Most cases they only thought about laughing but aren't really doing it. Most of the internet expressions are totally exaggerated. SO OMG may mean Oh y God but here its only an expression.

Its just a cultural expression. If someone says F-you, you don't think they actually want to have sex with you or that they are a hypocrit for saying that when they don't literally want to. I don't say it very often but I did awhile back and my husband not missing a beat, raised an eyebrow at me and said, "yes, dear?" =) This atheist thought that was pretty funny.

I think it is a figure of speech, actually if a person who believes in God says, omg that is disrespectful.

We can say all we want on any deity... we are free to express our view... we only fear the fanatic who worship the man made daity by the name of God the Faher, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost! I for one respect Allah because the Muslims are true believers capable of killing to defend Allah and Mohammed!

Saying that "Oh my God" (or the stupid abbreviation, OMG) is religious is like saying Christmas is Christian.

It just isn't.

And I'm a lesbomination? So what is THAT all about? Does it mean not only do I believe in Jesus but that I want to be hetero?

And what when I use minor exclamations like

"OH,monkeytitts!" or "Chelsea BUNS!!" ???

What does that say?

now I have to rethink everything...

It's just a saying. There is no meaning behind it.

i often tell religious freaks im "catholic" - that way I don't get a sermon. - and im just a deist, not an atheist

What is there some rule that you shouldn't mention something you don't believe in. Don't you feel a little silly taking that position.
