I need HELP with the new microsoft peer-to-peer networking thingy?

Hi, basically got 3 pc's networked up, were working ok then the vista one started acting up (maybe after an update) and its IP address was all different fe80: :5efe: (my ip address) %2 , also it has 2 IPv6 + IPv4 and tunnel adapters??? and it can't pick up any networks. So does this mean it can no longer network with the other two standard XP computers?

Thanks for any help

How did you setup up each of these computers to be networked? Did you manually enter IP addresses into each computer or do you have a router providing DHCP? The IP address you listed looks more like a "MAC Address" vs. an actual IP address.

Don't worry about the tunnel adaptors, that is for other networking processes.

Do you know how to determine what the IP address is on each computer? As these would be PRIVATE IP's you can go ahead and list them here.

People can not access your PRIVATE IP's from the internet without know your PUBLIC ip, and then a hole slew of other things.

Vista and Xp can be networked together, there are just a few different approaches to it and depending on what your answer is to the first question, I would be able to help you further.

Of course Vista can join same network as Windows Xp.

You need to make sure that the network is set up properly.

So the ips of the Xp-based must be similar to the one on Vista (usually 192.168.0.x)
