hooking up a new light in the bathroom where i had a exhuast fan and light combo?

i remolded my bathroom and i took out my exhaust fan and light to replace it with a 2 light bulb lfixture. my problem is on the new fixture it has 2 white and 2 black and 2 ground. out of the ceiling i have 3 sets of wires i have no idea where they go i tried hooking them up and i can get 1 light to come on but the switch will not turn off. i have no device to see with one has power. are there any quick fixes for me to try thanks

Update:

on the old combo fan/light i had 2 switches one for each but im wanting to hook it up so 1 switch works both lights and just discard the other switch

Update 2:

yes there is a window. they said the reason the sheetrock rotted out is because the fan was sucking up the moisture in the ceiling. there was no place for it to go no outlet fan to the outside

    OK here's what's up.

The main power is at the light not the wall. get a meter and figure out which one is always hot or makes the light stay on.

then there are two pairs of wires going to the switch I bet 2 black and white pairs. They are one in the same romex. but check it with a meter first.

then hook the black wire of the one that is hot to the black going to the switch, then take the white from the switch and hook it to the 2 blacks of the new light. The three sets of wires are thus.

    1. hot from electrical panel

    2. to light switch original

    3. the other part of the old combo unit from the switch.

so if you want to hook each light up individually you can by using the yet unused pair to the switch by repeating the hook up I said earlier to the remaining light or black wire of the lamp.

the whites should be tied together (not the ones going to the switch) the one from the always on white and the two whites from the light fixture. the blacks are for the power from the switch(es)

If I have totally confused you e-mail me and I can add pictures and a diagram.

Oh ya be careful of that black from the electrical panel.

I do have a question on this remodel. Is there a window in the bathroom? If there isn`t one you will need to install that fan back in. It is required. At the fixture itself. The 2 white wires are neutrals. The 2 blacks are hot.--- Wire the fixtures 2 whites to each other along with one white (neutral) coming out of box. And the same will go for the hot wires 2 blacks connect to the one black wire you have in the box. Now the ground will go to the ground from the box. You are trying to wire to a dual switch. It was connected to the fan. With our really seeing this my self i don`t know how your are set up. All i`m giving you is the correct wiring for the new light fixture. If you are unsure please call an electrision or could you give us a little bit more info.
