Creationists and Darwinists, how about this?
First, there is no real support for either theory. No fossil record supports evolution and that puts Creationists on even footing with Darwinists. However, Creationists believe in God and Darwinists do not necessarily believe. How come we have stop searching for answers to why there are species? How come we have come down in either camp? Whether you believe in God or not, some type of creation went on. There is no way out of that position, is there? I mean Atheists believe the whole situation started with nothing. Some famous thinker once said "Nothing from nothing leaves nothing". What other theories of species can be hypothesized. Guess what? Most of you are smarter than Darwin.

It shouldn't be necessary to point out that there is no support for evolution because it is a scientific theory, not fact. No experimentation or physical evidence has supported evolution. It is a theory based on observation and Darwin was the first to publish - though many other scholars of his time had made similar observations.
Creation is also a theory. It is larger proposed by Religious historians and not by scientists. Therefore, it would be harder to say it was a "scientific theory". In fact, it does not parallel evolution as an explanation of the "origin of man". In fact, it is based solely on belief in a creator, which historians can witness from cultures throughout history.
As scientists unlock the human gene equation through projects like the NIH Human Genome Project, I think science will learn more of the secrets of human beings. However, this does not prove evolution either as scientists have been producing hybrids by interfering with nature for hundreds of years.
Neither of these ideas disprove the existence of God. For the most part, scientific knowledge in the modern sense proves an intervention by God more than not. Since nothing can happen in the random in natural science as we know it. Therefore, the existence of species, the dying off of species and the "ascent of man" cannot be scientifically explained. So it is easy to look outside of science for the explanation.

You're right there is a gap in the fossil record ( I have studied science at Uni) many scientists are not naturally atheists, some the more they study the world the more unlikely it seems to them that it all just happened out of nothing.
Alot of people miss quote Darwin, he was showing natural selection of a microcosm not a macrocosm, he was not an atheist. It is true we do see many instances where species adapt, survival of the fitess, where fitness is defined as number of prospering offspring. He did not however, come across a finch that changed into a monkey. There is no current proof in the fossil record of any major species ever becoming another but there is definitive proof of natural selection and hereditary domininace.
I love science but I am also a questioning person I do not believe blindly!
Evolution is a theory- a very popular one, but still an unproven theory- and that is a Fact!

"Whether you believe in God or not, some type of creation went on. There is no way out of that position, is there?"
This question can be asked in reverse. Whether You believe in creation or not, some sort of evolution IS going on. Is there any way out of that question?
As for fossil evidence, think of all the gazillions of things that have ever lived and died -- there are relatively few records in known fossils today. Transition forms would, by their nature, be relatively few and short-lived (compared to other life forms).
We don't all come down in one camp or the other.

Acid Zebra:
Then I guess Merriam Webster got it wrong when they write that the definition of theory (in the scientific sense) is as follows:
5: a plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena
Something can be believable (plausible) and not be factual; and one can accept something that happens to be inaccurate.
Without the brass ring known as the "missing link", at best evolution is an educated guess. Educated, but a guess nevertheless.

Tahoe: Thank you for that useful information. I've saved it for my own use. :)
Penster: About the 30 year old research. How about Francis Collins, the geneticist who headed the Human Genome Project referring to something that can't be explained by evolution?
"the altruistic impulse, the voice of conscience calling us to help others even if nothing is received in return." Such altruism, says Collins, "is quite frankly a scandal for reductionist reasoning," for it goes directly contrary to the selfishness of the 'selfish gene.'" That is an excerpt from his book "The Language of God". A really long excert is on abcnews.com. I'll provide a link when I find it.

You don't know what you're talking about. You don't even know what "Darwinists" believe.
The fossil record does support evolution. Creationism is NOT on an even footing with evolution.

Why does the fossil record not show anything about the dinosaurs ancestors?
it doesn't start with things turnnig into dinosaurs, it starts with dinosaurs
and then works it way up, and those dinosaurs already show huge amounts of variation and specification
Evolution looks less valid with regards to anthropology,
If man is 3 million years old, why is the oldest language only 5000 years old?
infact
why is the oldest desert only 5000 years old?
and the oldest fossilised tree is only 5000 yeares old
why so?

The reason the world is in such a mess is because of the
theory of evolution. When I was 12 I knew it was a lie & no
one had to convince me either, thats now 46 years ago.
The theory of evolution gives man licence to do as he pleases
since he came from apes, lets monkey around & so you see
the results in broken lives & families.
Creation teaches us we are special, made by God & He
wants happy families that stay together as a family unit.

No fossil record supports evolution? Are you high or just stupid?
And no atheist I've ever met has suggested that any process 'started with nothing'. If you can put me in touch with the atheist who told you that, I'd be interested to speak to him or her.

There is no PROOF on evolution that disproves God's creation...Get a grip....In fact,it proves it to be more true...Evolutionists confuse a species adaption with something evolving...Don't get caught in spiraling downward motion of evolution...It will send you straight to hell...God Bless...Seek Jesus

**It is amazing to me that laymen who push evolution theory so vehemently don't even know what most evolutionary scientists have said about the fossil record....
Even Charles Darwin was honest when he confesses in 'Origin of Species'; " But as by THIS THEORY innumerable transitional forms must have existed, why do we NOT find them embedded in countless numbers in the crust of the earth?" -Charles Darwin
To the above fact, even the most world renown (evolutionary) biologists today agree.....
." New species almost always appear suddenly in the fossil record with NO intermediate links to ancestors in older rocks in the same region. The fossil record with its abrupt transitions OFFERS NO SUPPORT for gradual change". - Stephen J. Gould (Natural History , June, 1977, p.22)
"The extreme rarity (of transitional forms) in the fossil record persists as the 'trade secret' of palentology. The evolutionary tree (diagarms) that adorn our textbooks is.....NOT the evidence of fossils". - Stephen Gould (Natural History, 1977, vol.86, p.13)
"Evolution REQUIRES intermediate forms between species and paleontology DOES NOT provide them" (David Kitts, paleontologist and evolutionist).
According to Scripture NOTHING evolved but everything was created "AFTER ITS KIND"....which is directly consistent with the fossil record.
The thing to remember is that evolution is just a theory, a speculation, an unproven assumption....and NOT supported by the fossil record.
Scripture says God SPOKE all things into existence with His Word:
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.... For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:6-9)
