Should I update from a fuse box to a breaker box? This house was built in the 60's.?

If so, how much would an electrician charge? I live in the eastern part of Tennessee.

If you are having problems or would like to add power then it would be beneficial to upgrade to a breaker box. I cannot begin to tell you how much it cost in Tennessee....in Texas we charge anywhere from $1500.00- $1800.00 to upgrade the service (as long as the wiring is up to code). Have several electricians come in and give you free estimates.

    Yes you should.

It might be wise also at looking at updating your wiring at the same time.

As for cost, it can vary greatly depending on how much work is required.

My advise would be get at least 3 quotes from area electricians. Ask around, neighbors and freinds, to reccommend one to you.

Yes, at least a 200 AMP service. Newer homes today are going with 300 AMP service. Get bids from 3 licensed electrical contractors.

we had to add a 2nd box too. Houses weren't made for computers and huge tvs and treadmills... We had to add lines. Get a refferal before you use someone.
