10 Points for Best Answer!?

Okay. Why do people say that?

The best answer always gets 10 points, it's nothing special ffs.

Sorry, it just really annoys me (:

Honestly I think it still draws more attention to the question. Many people on here don't understand how the points really work.

One possible theory supporting the people who say "Ten POINTS for best-answer," is when a question is left to voting, it rarely is given a fair shot at people selecting a information based best answer. Truth be told, the first person to answer the question will often win based on voters selecting it quickly to earn a point and move onto the next question. Stupid, but the voting numbers show it's true.

Source(s): Go to the voting and read some question, often the first answer will have so many votes, it not worth picking one that is funnier and more informative.

I think we should have the Yahoo! Answers: Vegas Edition wherein we wager some of our points against the answerers. That way, for super-hard, super-important questions, we could offer as many points as we wanted. But instead of getting points just for answering, we would have to wager our own points in order to answer the question.

    Think about it Yahoo!

It's just makes the people a little bit curious...and many people start answering the Q too... Even your headline "10 points for BA" made me curious ;)

I like when they say 20 points more. They can only realistically give you eleven. It kind of annoys me too. I think it's already understood that your best answers will get ten points.

Something else that's equally annoying is when the answerer goes, "Please give me best answer!!!!"

I'm not asking, just making a point.

It's like a marketing ploy - some people just can't resist the lure of a 'come at get it' situation even though actually it's a load of crap. I'm with you on this!

It's annoying, Especially when that guy who has the Clarie Danes obsession asks: "Who wants 10 points"?

Why do people say that?... to get more answers,,,Qs is why do I always answer them ? We all no best answer gets 10 points.

I have no idea. It sorta annoys me too because I'm like... It's always 10 pts. It's not you are choosing to give me 5, 10, or 20 pts. It's always 10pts. Why not just say "HELP I need HELP ASAP!"? You'd get the same attention I bet.

Well somebody promised me 20 points to write an essay for her, I settled for "2."
