attention CADDY TECHS !!!!!?

A buddy of mine is having a engine interchange issue with one of those GD northstar engines in a 98 deville.

Basically the engine was replaced with a 95 model engine, the knock sensor and intake was swapped as the wrecking yard said in order to make it a easy swap.

Well... of course it doesnt want to start, it cranks.. but no injector pulse or spark. Everything has been gone thru 10 times. Now this is where it gets interesting....

The bottom crank sensor doesnt really read much of a spike as it should, its more of a gradual wave. New ones were installed and still the same thing. But, if you remove the bottom crank sensor with it still attached to teh harness.... the d*mn thing runs! if its unplugged or anything else it doesnt send spark or injector pulse.

WHAT COULD WE BE MISSING?

Update:

ok, will check that cam sensor tomarrow <sigh, I hate these engines>

    DESCRIPTION

The camshaft position sensor is located on the rear cylinder bank (BANK 1) in front of the exhaust camshaft. The camshaft position sensor extends into the rear cylinder head and is sealed with an O-ring.

    OPERATION

The camshaft position sensor is not adjustable. As the rear cylinder bank exhaust camshaft turns, a steel pin on its drive sprocket passes over the magnetic camshaft position sensor. This creates an On-Off-On-Off signal sent to the ignition control module similar to the crankshaft position sensors. The camshaft position sensor produces one On-Off pulse for every one revolution of the camshaft or every two revolutions of the crankshaft. This allows the ignition control module to recognize camshaft position.
