I will be traveling to tokyo in two weeks....?
Will I be able to use by visa credit card at most bars and night clubs? What about restaurants? Do I tip at bars?
If not, where is the best place to exchange my money.
thank you.
one more question...my wife and I are big fans of alternative rock type music. Any place in tokyo that would be good to check out to catch a cheap live show?
also, any fun clubs (techo, pop, etc.) that are affordable and recommended? thanks!

Check to make sure places take credit cards first before you go in (unless you have cash on hand). Not all places take credit cards and some only take credit cards issued by their own companies. You can get cash from post office atms, Citibank or Shinsei bank machines (most Japanese bank machines only take Japan issued cards).
No need to pay tips, but you may have to pay a cover or service charges at some places.
For info on clubs, live shows, etc. check out metropolis:

You should be able to use your visa at most places but just in case i would carry around some cash. You should be able to exchange your money in the airport.
You DO NOT tip in japan, its already included in the price of the meal. Go to roppongi in tokyo, its tokyos' biggest club scene.

Visa is good in Japan, you will need to get the Yen currency if you will be using cash.
There are all kinds of western influence in Japan, especially in the music, so you should be able to find some great alternative clubs there.

At bars and nightclubs I would carry cash.
Restaurants are generally ok with cards, however smaller ones might not.
You don't tip in Japan at all.
It is best to have cash in hand at all times in case cards don't work.
