Dodge Ram running issue?
OK guys, just picked up a 94 1500 4x4 with the 318 automatic for $500 (212k miles)
The guy said it just stopped accelerating, it would idle and then when you'd hit the gas, it would die or just not move any faster than it was idling.
So far I've tested the spark, fuel pressure, map sensor, throttle sensor, played with timing, swapped ECUs and havent found the culprit yet (lost daylight)
Basically what its doing to me now is it sometimes starts mostly only when I have my foot on the floor. Then it basically idles... but smells super rich.
any ideas popping in anyones head tonight?

take it and have the computer scanned on it ,this will tell you a lot more about what its doing, those engines was bad to wear out timing chains and gears, and when that happened, they would run real rich on fuel, and they wont stay in correct timing either, the first thing i would do on that one would be to replace the timing chain and gears in it the computer cant set the timing on it, it wont run right,i have done a lot of those,at 150 k you have to replace the timing chain and gears, good luck.

First off, I'll buy it from you! Baring that, I'd check the throttle position sensor again. Had a ford with similiar problems, 200k+, had to floor it to go, bucking and so on. The TPS checked ok (as well as everything else) but in an act of desperation I replaced it and that cured the problem.

your fuel pump kicks out ..its fuel injected. take on of your fuel injectors out and see if its pumping when running.. i dont think it has anything to do with the spark.. what you need to do it put it on the scope.. it could be a simple senser that you cant find.. sorry to tell you this
