Why doesn't common sense stop them?

Didn't you get the notice of the funeral for Common Sense? I got mine a few days ago.

Indoctrination is the thing that makes or breaks common sense. If you are indoctrinated to believe you should strap a bomb on the body of your 3 month old baby and leave it in a crowd of people you don't like, that is what you do if that is your upbringing. It is strictly what you have been taught, that is, if you have a normal mind. Some people do not have the ability to be indoctrinated to anything so those are not included here.

Because the "Religion of Peace", Islam teaches that if you die as a martyar, you will automatically go to heaven and recieve 72 virgins. In other words, they're blessed by commiting sucide by their own god!

Compared to the bible, theres only 3 instances of human sacrifice that has G-ds blessings that I know of- I could be wrong, but consider:

A)Old testament where a guy ends up killing his daughter because he swore the "next thing out of that door I will sacrifice to God". His daughter came out the door.

B)Sampson, old testament- last thing he did was commit sucide by pulling down the load bearing ceiling/roof joists and killed not only himself, but roughly 3,000 other phillisteins.

C)Jesus Christ himself, in a way commited sucide by allowing himself to be captured by the Romans- after all, he's God, he knows their thoughts, and he had made it a habit of evading and escaping them for weeks prior to his death.

Common sense is replaced with religious fears and bribes. Fear is a powerful thing... bribes come in a close second.

Having been subjected to these things systematically since childhood changes the way one thinks and functions. Religion has nearly perfected the art of "control". Nearly....

People do not understand the fundamentals of their religion, and think that they'll get along fine with their own unfounded interpretations.

I agree that people, to a certain degree, lose sight of their morality in the name of their religion.

I can't think of anything worse.

You are assuming they are mentally stable when they aren't. Sane people do not go on murderous rampages killing innocent people at random. These shooters may hide behind religion, they may blame it on religion but the bottom line is they have mental problems.

Religion allows otherwise reasonable people to commit heinous acts in the name of god.

Some of those people actually believe that by commiting suicide, they get to go straight to heaven.

Brainwashing overrides common sense.

Common sense is not very common and often times not very sensible.

Well their religious what do you expect. Religious people are responsible for the majority of crime in the planet.
