Question about NFL playoffs home field advantage?
I don’t think it is going to happen, but my question is...
What if the colts finished with 14-2 record and the Pats with 13-3 record, will the colts have the home field advantage throughout the playoffs, even though they lost to the Pats during the reg. season?
Thank you

Yes, the only way the Pats would have homefield advantage over the Colts is when the Colts are either tied, or have a worse record.
Tiebreaker-Pats beating Colts in the regular season only goes into effect when two teams are tied.

I think so. I think the two teams with the best record that are also division winners have home field advantage through the playoffs.
If the Pats and the Colts were in the same division, then I don't think the Pats would get home field advantage at all, because they didn't win the division.

The team with the best conference record gets home field advantage throughout the playoffs for their respective conference. The only time the team with the better record would play on the road is in the case of a wildcard team having a better record than a division winner. For example, if Denver won their division with a 14-2 record, while KC was the third wildcard at 12-4, it's conceivable that KC could be playing on the road against the winner of another division who had a worse record. Not likely to happen often, but it can.

Yes they would, but that is not even a possibility...the Pats play the Dolphins (0-13) and the Jets (2-11) in their next 2 games, there is no possibility they could lose to both, maybe not either. Plus the Giants are not a very good 9-4 team. So sry, i would go ahead and give that thought a rest b/c its over Pats WILL have home field. They could rest every starter and beat the Dolphins.

Yes the teams record hols more importance than individual matchups. So the Colts would get home-field advantage.

If that's how the season ended, then YES the Colts would have home field advantage. But we all know that isn't going to happen...

Yes because they have a better record. It doesn't matter if they lost to them in the regular season. But realistic, the Patriots won't lose 3 in a row!!
