For now, drink cranberry juice to try and flush out the infection. If the pain is in your kidneys you should phone your doctors back and explain to the receptionist and ask her advice, as you are likely to need antibiotics. If you get no joy there, speak to your midwife.
When i was pregnant, i had kidney pains but a urine test revealed no infection so was told just to drink more.

Go to the ER or urgent care, UTI are very common with pregnancy, due to the hormone changes. Everyone will tell you to drink Cranberry juice, i say look that one up on line. I have heard lately that cranberry juice can actually irritate a UTI more then help it, due to the acid in it. Supposedly you should only drink it when you feel the onset of a UTI, not when its full blown. Not sure on that one, but thought i would pass it on!!

I had about 6 uti's when i was pregnant and I used to go straight to my nearest primary care centre, I don't know if you are in England, if you are there should be one near you, hope you are feeling better soon cos they really hurt.
If you dont have a centre near you call your doctors and tell them you are pregnant and want an urgent appointment, its more than there job is worth to not give you one.

Go to the hospital, I don't want to worry you, but urine infections can be dangerous in pregnancy, you need some antibiotics asap. I had trouble with urine infections in my 4th pregnancy, as soon as i suspected i went to hospital. One time i got took in an ambulance, coz it made me so unwell i collaspsed, another time they kept me in over night. After i'd had 3 urine infections, they kept me on constant antibiotics for the rest of my pregnancy. I lost 2 babies before this pregnancy so i never let anything go to chance this time round, your baby is so precious, Good luck x

You'll get trimothoprin, don't worry UTI's are common in pregnancy, drink plenty of water and cranberry juice, and get back on at your doctors and tell them you need an emergency appointment!

trimethraprim (UTI's) and Amoxycillin (kidney infections) are both OK in pregnancy, go to an NHS walk in centre or to A&E if you cannot get an emergency GP appointment.
Also as has been said drink plenty of water and cranberry juice, baths help to ease discomfort.
