No. The MRI machine is noisy, kinda sounds like a washing machine off balance. So if you are getting your head done you might want to have ear plugs. The contrast is just a dye so they can get a better look at things and how it flows through the body.

The only thing that hurts is when they put the needle in to inject the dye, and that's not that bad.
