How did you make your baby start sleeping thorugh the night?
My baby is 6 1/2 months old and the pediatrician got mad at me because he said that a 6 month old should sleep through the night. He wakes up anywhere from 3-5 times a night just to nurse. The doctor says he is capable of not eating through the night. We do have a bedtime routine it just doesn't seem to help and I am ready to start getting more sleep! lol Any suggestions? Some say refuse nursing for 2 nights and they will quit? is that mean?

That is not right for your Pediatrician to get mad at you!! Every baby is different.
Try to get your baby back to sleep during the night without nursing. It may be best for your husband to do it, cos your baby knows that you have the food... and daddy doesnt. Just cut down on the night feedings gradually, and baby will get used to sleeping longer and longer without waking up to eat.
Do you use a soother? That helps babies sleep, when my guy ( 6 months old) wakes up at night, I just put his soother back in his mouth and he goes back to sleep.
Make sure your baby is having cereal, and being fed right before bedtime.

it's not mean, just substitute milk with water and your baby will stop asking for food at night. my daughter started sleeping through the night at about 3 months but then, at 9, when she started teething, it got even worse - we were up every night for 2 hours at a time and NOTHING could make her sleep. Get ready! :)

All babies are not the same. With that said. You did not put your baby on a schedule and you were inconsistent with the feeding and sleeping. At about three months they should be sleeping most of the night. you should leave the lights on during the day and turn them off when you want your baby to fall asleep at night the baby will catch on. By the six month your baby will sleep on your schedule. consistency is the key to a good night sleep.
**Those who he gave me thumbs down, this does work. Lights on with activity going on is a signal for your baby to stay awake. The lights out with no activity means sleep time. It work for me and I slept through the nights.

we started keeping our baby up more during the day, especially in the afternoon. Also after you start feeding more solid foods they will begin sleeping better at night.
