Is proselytzing addictive?

I just gotta wonder sometimes. Some people just can't seem to stop doing it, especially at the most inappropriate times and places. Not everyone who is in a proselytzing religion does this, but there are a few who do.

If you come to believe your life's purpose is teaching others this truth that you have, then I can see how the euphoria of doing that would be addictive. It would be tough to parse out peoples' motives in a single conversation, I think.

Once I was out drinking with my wife, then just my girlfriend, and a conservative Evangelical friend of ours. Walking along the street, a guy with a sandwich sign and a Bible started telling us we were going to hell and so on. Our friend couldn't resist. She said, "We're Christians. We're quite secure in our beliefs." He said, "That's a lie! Or you wouldn't be here among the fornicators and sinners!" She replied immediately, "So are you, sir."

I think there is some sort of pathology involved in being that way. What it is I am not sure....

    Hi

On a personal level I've no experience

What I have seen of it over many years I would agree with You It does seem to be addictive

It also seems to feed many ego's

    Leads to power trips

Many I have seen become so blinkered they can't see past their own nose and insist only their view is right

Many times turning more away than they convert

Then their God seems to get all the blame

They may have some secret agenda we are not privy to

It is okay to offer but not to insist

    May this help
