Okay, I don't really know how to do this problem, can anyone help me out? =)
It is as follows:
A winery has a vat to hold chardonnay. An inlet pipe can fill the vat in 40 minutes, while an outlet pipe can empty it in 120 minutes. Through an error, both pipes are left open. How long will it take for the vat to fill?

net fill speed = 1vat/40min - 1vat/120min
= 3/120 - 1/120
= 2/120
= 1/60 vat/min
= 60 min/vat
It takes 60 minutes to fill the vat.
