mustang transmission problems from to much power?

my 2001 mustang gt was stock 260hp, after some mods its estimated at 305-320hp, and its definitely noticable. however sometimes when i hit the gas the rpms do not go up, and it makes a grinding noise, seems like a transmission problem, could this be from the excess power? it didnt start until i got stuff done

Update:

its got a jlt cool air intake, a sct tuning chip, hpipe without cats, and flowmasters

someone said "does it sound like marbles", yeah it sort of does

if im over 3000 rpm it will stick and sound fine, its about 2000-2500 rpm that i push the gas and nothing happens, its an automatic

what mods?i doubt it it's your trans is it an auto or stick? sounds like a auto, get a rebuild and a better stall if you have that much power.

If your engine rpm doesn't change when you floor it, something is wrong with your engine or fuel delivery system. Is it a grinding noise or sound like marbles.

If your tranny couldn't hold the power that you have, the engine would rev up and your tranny would slip. I have a car that I just built a new engine that I blueprinted, upgraded the internals and heads (rebuilt transmission too) and now I can tell that I really need to upgrade transmission some more, when I get on it the rpm's come up really fast and each gear change the tranny spins a little bit and then slams into gear.

If it sounds like marbles, then you're experiencing pre-detonation. Your car is running lean due to your upgrades, it could be the sensors that you removed when you took out the cat, and the chip probably provided more advance. If you're not running 91 octane I suggest that you give that a try. Other wise you need to "plug in" and adjust your chip to provide more fuel. Maybe larger injectors and a little more fuel pressure.

Pay for a couple of runs on a dyno, the technician will know immediately whats happening.

Google Ford Mustang. it somewhat is consumer-friendly for previous Mustangs to leak on the windshield and rear window. If youdo no longer locate and fix the leak quickly, the motor vehicle will strengthen mould on the interior and stink! there are various previous motor vehicle aftermarket areas accessible. attempt e-bay or Hemmings motor information. you additionally can purchase a mustang or street rod magazine and circulate during the provides. solid good fortune

By the sound of it, the transmission may be slipping.. if you have issues with the torque convertor it can cause issues and noise also.. but without power braking and see it's hard to say

Also, Is the transmission fluid in the cross hairs?????? loosing tranny fluid can cause and do weird stuff

You need A LOT more power than that to trash an AOD. Check your TV cable, those litlle beyotches get just a little out of whack and it feels like the trans is going to fall out!

Yes it can be. You adding that much more torque the clutch plate is mostly getting ripped up. i would up grade the trany and reinforce it a little more. I would also think about upgrading the rear end gears and u-joints and the drive shaft as well. this will keep you from getting stranded and from having more problems.

the rpms would go up and you would hesitate before you go if it was a transmission slipping. the transmission is good for at least 375 hp before it needs work.
