The answer is no. The two issues haveno relation to each other--except the following:
The right-wing, by trying to equate concern about global warming with the Y2K hysteria, are both showing their total ignnorance of both (and of science/technology) and underling what pathetic fools they are.
What to I mean? First--man-made global warming isestablised fact--and a serious threat. There is no "debate" about that. The only debate--which should have begun years abo and is now only just starting--is what are the best policies to respond to the problem. That debate was delayed--by the right-wing--for purely policical reasons by things like the censorship of sccientists by the Bush administration.
Y2K, on the other hand, was never more than a minor technical problem--one any first-year comp-sci college student could fix. The difficult laay only in making sure all the millions of devices that needed the programming change were found and fixed. Tedious, but relatively simple.
Thehysteria--over what one idiot called "the first scheduled catastrophe in history" (on the 700 Club) came entirely from the right-wing. Lacking any real understandig of computers, they totally misunderstoood the issue and went into a fevered hysteria, running around maing dire predictions--and belittling the technical people who were fixing the problem--successfully, of course.
So, if I may make a suggestion to readers: when you read the "skeptics" rants against Al Gore and science, keep in mind these are the SAME people that, a few years ago, made complete fools of themselves by going into a panic over what was nothing more than making a minor software change.

Attack: Pope Benedict criticised climate-change prophets of doom
Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.
The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.
