What areas on the watch can you engrave? Clasp??

I just got a Fossil watch for my boyfriend for his birthday and I was really hoping on getting it engraved. There isn't room on the back of the watch, and I was wondering about the clasp. It's stainless steel so I know the material is fine, but do people ever get the clasp of a watch engraved? I guess it would be facing out because I think it'd be too hard to do inside. Any suggestions or does anyone know? This will be my first engraving experience :-) so I don't really know what protocol is (and what engraving stores can/will do!).

I actually just did this today! I went to a store in the mall called Things Remembered. I, too, had stamping all on the back of the watch so I requested that I wanted the clasp engraved. It had to be done on the outside because they do it with a laser or something. She told me that they could fit up to three lines on there. I payed $23 for 5 words.

Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

You need to take it to a jeweler not an engraving store, Usually watches are engraved on the back, but if there is no room the inside of the clasp or band would be appropriate. It is not usually done to engrave a watch where anyone but the wearer knows it is there. The exception is a pocket watch which may be engraved on its cover (but since it is usually in a pocket it is not often seen by others).

I would ask the people at the engraving place. They have a lot of experience with different kinds of items and they can give you a good recommendation.
