Why is Tom Cruise such a drawcard?

Cruise is a product of the eighties and the movies he has been lucky enough to have been associated with. Unlike dumber people in the industry, once Cruise was made aware of the fact that he was a sex symbol, he cashed in on that fact as much as he could as fast as he could and then he tried to move over to action and kept some of the sex in there. He is a publicity mizer as well. he milks the press for all it is worth. he has been associated with many of his co stars and made more money for doing so.

In short, the man knows how to use the system.

Obviously this is from someone who has no freakin' clue of what they're talking about.

Tom has made multiple blockbuster hits in his time.

Why people keep saying he is a horrible actor doesn't hold much water when he earns top draw and has incredible skillz.

So stop hating.

And you can put a thumbs down all you want, but it still doesn't change the fact that you're just a sheep following the pop culture herd.

You neeed to get your facts straight.

Edit: if I was going solely by box office take I would have also liked those god-awful Fantastic Four movies with that horrible actress Jessica Alba.

But since I don't that kinda knocks your logic right outta there.

And Why did they give X-Men 3 to the Rush Hour guy? What a piece of cinematic fecal matter.

The greatest actor of the current generation???? Tom Cruise??? hahaha - good joke.

I just remember the Film 'Last Samurai' - despite the fact that the whole story, concerning the historical facts, was absolutely wrong, it was good entertainment. There was just one actor of whome I all the time thought: What is this dumbass doing there? Tom Cruise of course...

You did see Jerry Maguire and A Few Good Men right? I preach his dimples got him to hollywood but, I mean, those two films are definately a hole in the argument. de Niro? come on .. I'm gonna say it .. Typecast. There I said it. Has been? ohh I let it slip! So miscast in Stardust I winced every moment he was on screen.

I'd put other actors over him... as far as "great" but he's a pro at no mistake.

I actually think he's a decent actor, but the movies I've liked him in aren't what people think of when they think of him. I liked him in "Rain Man" and I liked him as the "sex guru" in "Magnolia." Even my bf thought that was pretty funny. I think in a lot of the action movies he's been in he's liked because he's got this weird, wild look about him. He's crazy and some people think of him as good-looking and magnetic.

Me.. definitely Tom was a good actor with a good looking face.
