Well, check out vegan and vegitarian websites.

There's no one thing I could tell you.

Try googling "vegan health" and you'll get plenty of results.

    Check out all the resources.

You can also stay heathly not through vitamins buy through FOOD!

Woohoo for becoming a fellow vegan!

    Good luck =D

My siblings and I were raised vegan, have never taken vitamins of any kind, and have never even had a cold. It is the SAD (Std. Am. Diet) that is deficient in nutritional value, not vegans'.

It sucks that you're allergic to soy, since so many yummy vegan foods are made with it. I'd ask around your local vegetarian society; they might have some experience with that.

    Good luck!

The only nutrient that is not available in a vegan diet is B12 and B12 deficiency isn't something you want to screw around with. Everything else can be gotten in sufficient amounts if you are eating a well-balanced, varied diet. Since most of us aren't perfect, though, a good multivitamin never hurt anyone.

A great resource for vegan nutrition info is "Becoming Vegan" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. They discuss which nutrients are no-brainers, which ones bear some extra attention, and which ones (B12) should be supplemented. Iron, calcium and zinc fall into the "pay attention" category, but they of course give you information on dietary sources.

re. freaking. search. Don't go by the crap you hear omnis preaching about how vegans have to supplement everything.

It's easy. Eat. Well. Pop a b complex once in a while. The. End.

Definetly a calcium supplement. I take an anti-stress vitamin that my mom gave me, and a calcium supplement. Be sure to eat a varied diet! Drink calcium fortified soymilk and O.J. Silk has come out with some Omega 3 fortified soymilk too! I loooove Silk!! You don't have to eat meat to be healthy.

You have to be really careful and keep on a strict diet with the foods you do eat and the vitamins. Even with that though, I don't personally think it's healthy. There's just some things your body can only obtain from natural meat.
