What is the oddest place you have ever visited?

One of the wierdest anywhere is the Oregon Vortex at Gold

Hill, Oregon. It's a natural vortex where the laws of gravity

do not apply. There are no birds or anything living in that area.

People with high blood pressure can't stand to be inside it

for the feeling of extreme pressure on their bodies. There is

an old miners shack on the premises that is closed off and

you can stand inside and see a ball rolling uphill. And if you

stand at one end of the room and someone is at the other,

they will look so much taller than they are. And if you take their

place, you will also look taller than you are. And shorter at

the opposite end of the room.

There have been many owners of this place since I was very

small. It's always looked the same. And there have been so

many scientific studies that come up without an explainable

answer. It really gave me the creeps when I visited as an adult

in middle age. I couldn't stay inside for the feeling of pressure

against me. And it was only when having driven about a

mile away, that feeling gradually left me. And I didn't have a

problem with high blood pressure either. There are several

places in the US that make the claim that they are a natural

vortex, but this place definately is. And when you go there,

you'll definately agree, that the place is not natural!

Either the Winchester Mystery House or the city of Los Angeles!

Which is the Winchester Mystery House of cities. Streets that go no where. Buildings that are never finished. No trees and the worlds largest parking lot extending from the ocean to the desert in the East.

I saw the Catacombs and mummies in Palermo, Italy. It was very weird and eerie. These people thought that it was an honor to be displayed after death. The last person displayed was in the 1920's, a young child.

The Capuchin catacombs of Palermo are burial catacombs in Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy. Today they provide a somewhat macabre tourist attraction as well as an extraordinary historical record.

"Palermo's Capuchin monastery outgrew its original cemetery in the 16th century and monks begun to excavate crypts below it. In the 1599 they mummified one of their number, recently-dead brother Silvestro of Gubbio, and placed him into the catacombs."

"The catacombs contain about 8000 mummies that line the walls. The halls are divided into categories: Men, Women, Virgins, Children, Priests, Monks, and Professionals. Some bodies are better preserved than others. Some are set in poses: for example, two children are sitting together in a rocking chair."

I'm not sure if you could class this as the "oddest", but in the early 80's they opened one of our local Coal Mines for the public to actually go down there to see the Pit Face, I decided to sign up to go as I wanted to see where my Dad had spent all his working life after leaving the army....and it is worse than anyone can imagine, the things they had to endure day in day out was awful, they deserved a medal for doing that job, they certainly have my respect and admiration

The WHITE HOUSE!

Talk about a Disney Land experience. Saw them all, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Scrooge (looked a lot like Cheney) and a whole host of fairies, dwarfs not to mention the magic mountain ride to ruins.

The Bay of Fundy, Novia Scotia has these really weird tides...called tidal bores i think.

My favorite was a museum down in the Fl. Keys. This man has been digging for sunken treasures and had a small museum there. The gold he had there was really unbelievable.
