can you say merry christmass to someone 10days before christmass...?

...if youre not gonna see them until after christmass?

i said this to my brother-in-law and im not sure if it was improper!

Update:

yes they live in another town, since english is not my first language i didnt know that i should have said "hope you have a good christmass" as opposed to "merry christmass" as someone pointed out was wrong.

thanks all for answering

Of course!! It shows thoughtfulness, and lets him know he is already part of your Christmas, even if you won't be together.

When I conclude conversations on the telephone this time of year,I always wish the other party Merry Christmas or Happy Hannukkah.I can hear the pleasant surprise in their voices as they wish me the same.

The correct form is -"IN case I don't talk to you before Christmas, Have a Merry one!" There are only two times Merry Christmas is inappropriate, when speak to someone who doesn't practice Christmas and when it's July.

Yes, you can say Merry Christmas 10 days before Christmas...

Of course you can, I don't see anything wrong with it especially if you won't be seeing them during the holidays. I've already started saying "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Years". But that's because my engergetic attitude takes over and everyone gets to recieve some of my Christmas energy.

Of course you can. If you are not going to be around for Christmas, then obviously the person cannot complain about the greeting being improper. It is actually very polite to say it especially if you know that you are going away!

Instead of saying "Merry Christmas" you should say I wish you all the best this Christmas or all the best this Christmas. On December 25 you can say Merry Christmas.

who's telling you that anybody is indignant? i comprehend atheists, Muslims and Jews and none of them are indignant via a Christian telling announcing Merry Christmas. it is pointless to get protecting over a controversy that would not exist, different than interior the suggestions of somebody like invoice O'Reilly.

there is no day restriction when saying merry Christmas. you could say it in the middle of august and it wouldn't be improper.

    christmas only has one "s"

you should stop worrying about whether or not people will thing you're "weird" (OH NO!) if you say merry christmas too early and start worrying about spelling things correctly.

i'd rather have people think i'm weird than have them think i'm stupid and ignorant and can't spell.
