Why do Americans allow big business, like football and movies and corporate entities to rule our lives?

Today is a prime example. We are told to keep off the roads due to horrid weather. The Patriots are playing in Foxboro however. God forbid they cancel a football game! People driving through ice. Drinking and driving home again. This amazes me.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOT BAAALLLLL!?!?!?!?!?

    I guess you are not!

There is a LOT of money riding on these games going "ON" as planned. While football has it's problems with snow/ice, baseball has it's problems with rain, and auto racing also has problems with rain.

There are plenty of games which are cancelled/postponed due to weather. Remember the World Series game that was cancelled in California due to the earthquake?

Of course, drinking and driving is never a good combination, not EVERYONE who goes to a game DRINKS....I never have. Plenty of fans can arrive via public transporation, too. These days, it's not just filling a stadium that counts, it's TV revenue. If the game is sold out (which likely today's game is), the team has that revenue already in their pockets. Cancel the game... give back the money. Go on with the game... it's the fans' choice to come or not, and the team has no responsibility for any accidents coming or going.... besides, they never do, even if the sun is shining and it's 75(F) degs out.

So, it's really not the team's "fault" if people foolishly come to a game in bad weather and have accidents. And no court in the USA is going to hold them libel if they do.

What should amaze you is the stupidity of some people rather than the "corporate greed."

    Have a polite day.

No one personally allows this. I'm sure there are LOTS of people who had tickets to that game and didn't go due to the weather.

I think your claim is a little crazy. I mean, the grocery stores are open. Is that bad? After all, some crazy person will be there shopping when it's not nessacary.

Plus, drinking and driving is a personal choice. The people who will drink and drive at today's game, would have done the same at a game that wasn't held during the horrible winter weather.

EVERYTHING is a choice. Big business isn't holding a gun to people's heads and making them do anything.

    > we are informed to maintain off the roads as a results of horrid climate. that's a guideline, not an order :) you think of it truly is the 1st time a soccer game substitute into ever performed interior the snow? Sheesh, those are the final video games to computer screen and admittedly, to play in! Ever bypass snowboarding or tenting, or everywhere else the place there is snow? Does existence cease, or does existence spring up while someplace like Lake Tahoe gets 4 feet of snow (which happens robotically?) hint: human beings race the hurricane for the time of California to get there!

well i see your point. you still have a choice to stay on or off the roads. and if your passionate about something weather it be football i wouldn't want to hold you back on going with what you love! How immoral is that!

Because big corporations rule America. That's why big companies get away with everything and us little people have to just go by their rules. It's ridiculous.

    Yes,

    that's true your absolutely correct...

too many people abdicate their personal responsibly to

others and go along with the majority mindset.

but it is rare in this world to fine someone

as independent a thinker as you. it's

downright numbing to think of how many robots there are.

forgetting about all the good advice they've heard

over the years... and just getting swayed by all the

    rhetoric and unabashed commercial advertising.

yet. when it comes to taking control of their

own lives they expect someone else, government, or the

usual list of excuses to be a magic solution. too bad.
