Why do Americans allow big business, like football and movies and corporate entities to rule our lives?
Today is a prime example. We are told to keep off the roads due to horrid weather. The Patriots are playing in Foxboro however. God forbid they cancel a football game! People driving through ice. Drinking and driving home again. This amazes me.

Business and entertainment industries are big and important because they provide an important product for our economy. Sports and entertainment are an enjoyable diversion for many people. We could argue that some take this diversion to far and become obsessive, but how is that the fault of a given industry? The consumers make these industries what they are, they don't really rule us. Entertainers tend to be beautiful, talented or controversial and this is interesting to most people and in some an inducement to fanaticism.
