Should I quit my job to finish school or keep working?

I am a 27 year old male. I have been working full time for a nonprofit making $33k a year. I am also half way to getting my bachelors. During the past couple of years I have been going part time to school which has worked out ok. I am getting to the point now where it is becoming more and more difficult to get classes that work with my schedule. So I am considering quitting my job at the end of this year so I can give my all to finishing school. Financially, I have $30k in savings, my billls are very low. . I also make a few hundred bucks a month selling on ebay on the side which pays my bills and allows me to not use any of my savings, I don't pay rent cause I do snow removal and grass cutting for my building. My job would not allow me to go to part time. I am a very smart person but in the past have made some bad choices when it comes to school work etc. I am going for a degree in finance & accounting. What should I do?

School is way more important, unless you want to be stuck in that same old job making your 30K a year for the rest of your life.

  • It sounds like you have the answer for yourself.

You say that you are having a difficult time getting to classes because work is interfering. Well, if your plate is already full with all the volunteer work you do and classes, then doesn't it make sense to remove whatever obstacles are getting in the way of finishing school?

It depends on what is important to YOU. We cannot make that decision for you,but we can make suggestions. In the long run the choice is yours.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

How important is school to you?

How important is this job you have?

What about the volunteer work you do for rent?

Have you established a repore with the people you work with, do volunteer work for?

What are YOU willing to give up?

What will it take to finish school?

Can you realistically keep your job and still go to school and finish?

Can you keep your grades up if you keep your job?

What are the pros amd cons of keeping the job?

What are the pros and cons of resigning?

    Hope this helps.

You have basically answered your own question. You can't cope with school and work. School obvioulsy has the priority and the reward at the end will be far greater than what you are getting at the moment.

Quit the job you have now and get a part time job working at a place that only needs you at night or flexible hours. Many places are happy to have staff that change hours as their course changes througout the year.

I say ask your job to help you out with your schedule. Your learning and making something of yourself. That is MORE then most kids are doing these days. They need and would want a good employee and might give you hours to work around school. Your not asking for time off to goof around.Good Luck

obviously you are not having any trouble with bills or actual living, so quiting your job to further and better your life sounds like the right way to go. with a better degree you will make way more than what youre making now. Stay in school!!

if i were you, i would quit my job and go to school full time. cause if you think about it, after you get your bachelors, you'll find a good job that will pay more. however, i would find me a part time job just to have a paycheck still coming in, and some extra cash besides what you get from ebay.

It sounds like you could afford to quit your job in order to finish up school. Afterwards you would be more likely to get a job that pays higher and that you would have a potentail future in. In the end it is your decision to make.

How much longer do you have to go in school? If you can manage to stop working and focus on school full time until you earn your degree -- and keep education debt at an absolute minimum -- then do it.

Just hang in there and absolutely do not swerve from your goal. Best of luck to ya!

    In my opinion

i would say that you should quit your job and continue to go to school. maybe you can apply for financial aid or something

so that you dont need to work
