If you are a mom and Dad answer this question?Does it really hurt to give birth and if so how bad does it hurt

I had a natural birth (no pain meds) and was in labor for 15.5 hours. Honestly, it really isn't all that bad. I labored standing up and tried all types of positions for the pushing part. The worst part of it for me was that it was exhausting and I really didn't get to enjoy my daughter's first few minutes of life because they whisked her away to assess her. A woman's body is made to give birth. Yes there is pain involved but it is a type of pain that is there for a purpose and only lasts for a few hours. There is no greater act of love than the act of giving birth.

Labor starts out pretty mild may may turn into your worst nightmare; the first 2 kids I had an epideral so once I hit 4 cent. I couldnt feel anything but geting between 3-4 was very painfull; God have mercy if you have back labor you will feel like your back is being torn in two. My 3rd child the ep wore off and I had vaginal labor pains (OUCH) it felt as though my vagina was on fire and being ripped. Once the baby starts to come if you dont have an ep it will hurt its alot of pressure and almost like a stabbing pain. But once the baby is born you will feel nothing but relief (and sleepiness) then the pain starts from where they come in to rub your uterus to get the bulge down and make sure you dont hemerage ..thats painful ! Not even a pain you can describe.

The wonderful thing about it is, Mother Nature made the after part, holding that wonderful little baby and all that so wonderful, that after a time you forget what the pain was like.

That is after a time. Could be a long time....

Nothing like stitches and sore breasts, post partum depression, no sleep......

Don't ever ask a man this question. They have absolutely no idea. The closest they get to labour pain is when they pass out and hit their butt on the floor when they see the blood.

Just don't decide to be having one until you are sure you are ready. The work involved is enormous.

Everyone's pain tolerance is different. My wife is right here and she refused all pain medication because she had decided that anything she took would "drug" our son as well. There are studies on both sides of this issue, but the important point is that she chose not to have medication. She didn't cry out even once. She winced during the episiotomy, but she laughed a few hours later that women make such a big deal on TV with all the screaming that they had her ready for something that would hurt much more.

She obviously has a high pain tolerance, but she says the important point is to not to let people scare you and get dramatic with you...

I had a c-section it wasn't bad. The worse part was getting out of bed for the first time. Other than that I did good. As far as natural birth I can't help you there. Good Luck!

It does not hurt the dad. There are things that can be done to help control the pain including spinal blocks. It is very painful but there is joy in the end.

this may sound odd but to me the contractions felt like there was a handle on my stomach like a suitcase and with every contraction, it felt like someone was pulling that handle trying to lift me up by it. just a lot of pulling and tightness and pressure. the pain is bad, but like others said, it fades with hearing and seeing your child for the first time. there are options for pain management if you find it to be unbearable.

i also had a c-section so giving birth was not that hard.. labor contractions hurt as hell.. no words for me to describe :D but the pain will go away once you see your lil one :) goodluck!

worst pain of my life

i ended in a c-section and that wasnt too bad during delivery but oh my gosh after it was terrible took me 8 weeks to heal

it hurts worse than words describe...but as soon as the baby is born the pain instantly goes away and you kind of forget about it....thats why people have more than one baby, if you could really remember and describe it you wouldnt do it again.
