what small or medium bird would make the best alarm clock?

this is sort of a joke question, because i'm not thinking or getting a bird right just now.. but theoretically...

say i have 2 alarm clocks and manage to sleep through them cuz i'm a lazy bum and i turn them off and go back to sleep, but i really love birds and i know i wouldn't shut a bird up or be mean to it, what kind of bird should i get (say from a rescue facility) that will wake me up in the AM... and how do i keep the bird from adjusting it's sleep schedule to mine too much.

i'm asking this after reading the question about the noisy sun conure. I'm not willing to get a cocatoo, lol, or mccaw, but i'm wondering if there are other noisy pet birds that will get me off my tush in the morning.

doves, maybe?

don't say rooster, cuz i'm not moving to a farm anytime soon. and no cocatoos. i'd like something that screems in the morning, not all day, lol.

Update:

i wake up from an alarm! i just turn it off and go back to sleep. but you can't turn off a bird...

hmm, so if a quaker parrot woke up after my alarm (that i turn off) the parrot will keep going and try to be louder? sounds good to me

my cockatiel sleeps thru my snooze buttons now :(

Hm, I had a Quaker Parrot. These birds are smaller, but don't let it's size decieve you, it is VERY loud! It woke me up in the morning all the time (:

But normally it squawks when it wants attention or its hearing some other loud noise, so it will compete with it to be louder.

I have had three birds in the past, and they always seemed to adapt to my schedule. It ate when I ate, slept when I slept, etc.

A quaker or sun conure, but a quaker for sure. Quakers are great at mastering mimickery. And in the morning after awhile don't be suprised if you hear your parrot mimicking your alarm. My amazon does this except now instead of just mornings he will do it whenever he wants. But realistically no parrot would be very reliable. If they want to sleep they will sleep, and most parrots enjoy sleeping till at least 7. (They 10-12 hours a night!)Doves coo, and it is often very quiet as well. Be aware that a parrot needs 2-4 hours of attention a day, a large cages, lots of toys, and mroe toys, pellet/seed/fruit & veggie diet, and lots of care. My conure on the weekend will usually start screeching around 8, then the others join in. They say :Ok, I'm up now let's go go go!!!! Please don't get a parrot unless you are in for the long run and for the passion and love of a parrot, not just so they can scream in the morning. My conure though often starts to wake up around 6-7 on the weekdays and has adjusted to sleeping in till at least 7:30 on weekends. :) Thank goodness....but once they are up they let you know they are up and ready to get their breakfast!

They are very funny in this way the best way I find to get up is to: put your alarm on the other side of the room. I used to over sleep and ignore my alarm but now that I ahve to walk to turn it off I usually start to get more awake and can't go back to sleep unless I really try.

My birds, a parakeet and a cockatiel, never fail to wake me up.

Or at least, never did fail (my keet died, but my cockateil is my new safe alarm clock)

Around 6, 7 AM she'll start churring, a type of thrumm. Then past 7, around 7:15, maybe even 7:30 she'll start squawking until I finally get up and feed her.

    She's a great alarm clock...especially on weekends...:)

    doves coo.

so if a soft coo coo will wake you up then im ABSOLUTELY sure a alarm clock will, anywho parakeets and cockatiels really dont SCREAM they chirp alot, [also quieter then an alarm] SO unless you go toward conures or the big fellows [ macaws & cockatoos etc] you not gonna get an "alarm bird"

so a procedures the suggestion from the different posters has been super... I easily have heard marvelous issues approximately Pionus, besides the certainty that I easily have never had one (yet I easily have additionally heard that they are not very energetic). in case you have the time to spend with the fowl... a cockatoo could be appropriate for what you're searching for (they're friendly, cuddly, often love all and sundry, you could take them places, and so forth... yet they require lots of time and interest, could properly be very loud, and are not truly the final fowl for somebody who works 9-5 accepted and are slightly plenty to look after for a commonplace time fowl proprietor.) different than the cockatoo.... indexed decrease than are my techniques: a million. Conure: super character, love human beings, playful, and love outings! draw back: they're loud, yet some at the instant are not as loud as others like the eco-friendly cheek or a blue crown. 2. Lorikeet: the small lorikeets at the instant are not loud, and have a playful character like a conure, theya re candy and friendly, yet very severe ability. I easily have an Iris Lorikeet and love her and he or she is friendly to all and sundry, yet she is so small that i in my view do on no account take her exterior. draw back: choose a particular foodstuff habitual and are messy. 3. Linneolated Parakeet: candy, playful, not aggresive, yet like the lorikeet, are a small parrot relating to the scale of budgie. 4. Smaller Amazons: a number of the smaller Amazons at the instant are not very loud, can lean to talk, candy, love taking place outings. draw back... not very cuddly and such as you to everyone else. I easily have a Lilac crowned Amazon (Lila) and he or she is the gentle of my existence! I take her on walks, to the keep, we watch television at the same time each night, and he or she shall we me stroke her neck interior the night, she loves taking showers with me, and in basic terms marvelous out... yet she would not like human beings to touch her, yet she would be in a position to step up onto their palms. additionally, she is extremely quiet, yet not all Amazons are... the lilac crowns are commonly was the "quietest" of all Amazons. i wish this helps... good luck to you!

    Get a kakariki.

As soon as the sun is up, he starts saying, "What are you doing? What are you doing? What are you doing?" over and over. He's awake, so everybody else should be, too.

He definitely doesn't have a snooze button.
