Lexapro and weight loss?

I'm currently taking 10mg of Lexapro each day. I have gained some weight since taking it, but I also believe its mainly due to the fact that I've been eating like a cow. So, I've decided to start Weight Watchers and I'm doing "The Firm" workout, which I've had success with before. Has anyone been able to lose weight while still taking Lexapro?? I'm hoping most of my weight gain is from eating and not a side effect of the drug.

I took lexapro for a while, the first three months I was super hungry and I noticed I was gaining weight, so just like you, I decided to start a diet, I started South Beach. After a month I lost almost 10 lbs. I know everybody is different but just try to eat healthy foods and keep working out. I am sure you will lose the weight and feel better about yourself. Also remember that age makes a difference in your weight gain, so if you are in your mids 20s a good workout at least three times a week is ideal to keep you balance.

    Good luck!!

    hiya..

I was on Lexapro for about 8 months and gained 20 kgs, which really affected my mood in the way I feel about myself. I found that although I was working out and eating healthily or low calorie at least (eg a lettuce) I could not shift any weight and was till gaining it. when I came off lex I started sertraline, d while I did lose some of the excess weight, I can't seem to lose any more. I eat about 1200 cal a day and am very active so I don't really understand. In addition, I have developed extreme fluid retention- I can go up a size and back down over night or even during the day. It really making things miserable as I cannot even plan what I am going to wear or feel confident in myself.

I am so grateful to these drugs for giving me my life back, but these body issues are really getting me down. any advice of info would be greatly appreciated.

There are many weight loss programs out there that have been beneficial for many and there are many that have caused more problems than benefits. So, when you embark on a weight loss program, consult experts and make sure that the program will suit your body. The best part about most weight loss programs is that you will most certainly lose weight if you follow the regimen to the ‘T’. However, the difficult part is maintaining the weight, as people tend to put on weight fast after discontinuing a weight loss program.
