I have a 2005 Toyota Camry. It's always been good to me.?

I have taken good care of it, and it has 34,000 miles. The check engine light just came on, but the car seems to be running fine. I'm afraid if I take it to the dealer they will charge me 150.00 just to reset it and find nothing wrong with it. Has this happened to anyone, and should I get it checked out or not? Thanks.

Take the car to AutoZone. They have a scanner that will tell you what is wrong with it. It is probably just a routine maintenance light. Check your owners manual. Autozone will scan it for free. I have a scanner in my garage and it takes less than a minute to diagnose the engine code that is turning on your light. Once the problem is identified ask them to delete the code and that will turn the engine light off. Good luck!

The check engine light in Nissans and Toyotas are connected to a switch in the passenger side panel. Open it and reset the thing. Your right, if not they will charge you $$$ to do the same and probably not check a thing.

Go to Autozone or any auto part chain store (pepboys, o'reillys, whatever) and they will check it for FREE by plugging in a computerized engine diagnostic, it will take 2 minutes max., and if nothing is wrong you can ask them to reset it for you.

Auto Zone, Kargen's, Advanced Auto and they'll Run Diagnostics for you. Most likely something minor.

Auto Zone or O'Riles will do it for free. They cant leagaly reset your computer, but they can do everything push the last button for you. If the guy is cool he will let you do it if there is nothing wrong with your car.
