Hernia Complications?
I had an umbilical and hiatal hernia surgery last year. (The two had gotten really tangled.) They repaired the hernia and added in a mesh. I think I just tore open the netting and now have another umbilical hernia now. My question is this...Is it safe to wait for surgery repair? I don't have the money or time for another surgery right now.

It depends on how large and involved the hernia is. The risk with hernias is the chance that your intestines are going to lose circulation by being cut off and squeezed through the abdominal muscles.
I have a ventral abdominal hernia right now and am getting it surgically repaired this Friday. However, I have had it since July and haven't been able to take time off from work and school until now to get it fixed. My doctor said that it's something that can be put off up to a certain point and that if I start having any symptoms of a bowel obstruction (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting), that it will have to be corrected immediately.

It really depends on how serious the hernia is. Visit your doctor and explain your situation. It it's something that can wait your doctor will probably be willing to work with you, but if it's something really serious you don't want to waste time in getting it repaired. Even lack of money and time isn't worth putting off a relatively routine procedure if it means a chance of much bigger complications down the road.
