At this age the puppy should still be fed three times a day until it is 6 months old then you can drop to 2 meals per day, same amount only divided into two.

On the bag of food, there should be a weight chart.

puppys are reccomended 3 times a day but being a bigger puppy it may need more. Ask your vetenarian to be sure.

3 times a day- 2 when they are 6 or 7 months. It also depends on the size

2-3 times a day....and just like us the first meal should be the largest........give him lots of water and excersize then at night you can leave out water.............but cut him off at your bedtime else he may not be able to hold it.

His weight will determine how much he eats at each setting. There may be a chart on the back of the food bag. He should not be chowing down on a full cup per feeding.......Retrievers (just like my babies) can really put the pounds on. esp with soft food.

    Good luck!!!

i get this question about 50 times a day from my clients and as i tell them over and over again.. measure feeding is well ok but it causes a gobbling accent by your dog ...free ranging your dog is best in my professional oppinion... start with only 1 cup of dog food in your dogs bowl and let them eat that and then put more in as they realize that the food is all ways there for them they shall only eat as they need it .. restricting your dogs food can cause them to over eat at a setting plus with bigger dog there is the problem of bloat accruing to them.. this is when they eat and then do not let there food rest and it cause there stomaches to flip and can cause serious problems plus it shall need to be fixed by a vet as well.. costly .... remember your puppy needs food to grow and during the puppy there food needs change from growth spurt to growth spurt.... if more is needed on this e-mail me please...

  • 5 months..probably just a couple times. Go by the recommended feeding chart on the dog food that you buy.
