Why is the UK government so immature?

Do they think they can change the whole of society simply by passing laws, or are they just deluded morons?

Thats not an either or question - this government do beleive that they can change society simply by passing laws, so they are indeed deluded morons.

The law makes almost no difference to my behaviour - I behave the way I do because I beleive it is right to do so, not because of any law.

On a deeper level, this government are particularly bad at 'simply passing laws' with out any structure or mechanism to support the changes -- changing behaviour requires enforcement.

    i.e.

new laws regarding using mobile phones in cars are not being enforced by the police, the government response is more laws (which presumably won't be enforced any better than the existing ones that aren't working) - the original law just needs to be enforced.

new laws supposedly to reduced gun crime, just removed legal hand guns, not those that were (and still are) in ued in crime - the law on unlicenced guns just needed to be enforced.

new laws (proposed) to make prostitution illegal to attack 'people trafficing' - people trafficing is already illegal the existing law just needs to be enforced.

They are truly clueless, and I look forward to their humiliation (particularly G Brown) at the next election -- the only man who could make John Major and Tonly Blair look like great PMs.

Perhaps the question should be: why are YOU so immature?

Society has been changed and controlled by way of passing laws in this country for over 1000 years.

It seems to have worked (mostly) so far.

Every country on Earth has laws aimed at controlling and changing peoples' behaviour. The alternative would be anarchy, and anarchists are deluded morons.

    Are you an anarchist?

Deluded morons is probably more like it, it seems to be a requirement to be in the government these days.

However, I wish more people would stand up and protest against the government, like they did in the good old days.

The suffragettes used to throw cakes at the politicians and chain themselves to lampposts, now what happened to that good old tradition?

Maybe it's time to go down to London and show them what we are made of!

It is the duty of a government to pass laws in order to order society and to maintain its social obligations to the people.

Every citizen is expected to abide by such laws if our society is to be free, fair, equitable, just, synchronised and secure.

Anarchists neither want nor do they obey the laws of the land. In that sense, they should be free to move out of society into caves and not hope to enjoy benefits accorded other law abiding citizens within society for their efforts and good behaviour.

Anarchists cannot and must not be allowed to expect to reap where they have not sown.

I wouldn't say immature, most of the people in office aren't very young at all and Labour has been in power for quite a while. Passing laws perhaps isn't ideal but can you think of a better way of controlling people?

I wouldn't say immature more control freaks when it comes to thought crime ( SORs) etc. And traitors with Chairman Brown signing away our countries sovereignty to Brussels. There are Trots at heart and despise our countries heritage and values soon as there are kicked out and replaced with true democrats the better.

Uk government can claim seniority over any government that exists today.

it is not great but apart from the ancient world we have one of the oldest democracies, and its still going, fools and all,

I would sooner be here than some places in the world where generals or movie stars run the country, God save the UK and the Queen. its still the best place to live.
