How to approach your employers about going green?
A co-worker and I have been making small changes to go green ourselves (got the new light bulbs, started recycling etc) but now we want to do more.
I work in a call center for a pretty large .com company and I'm positive we use a ton of energy. There's about 120 people in my office. Barely anyone shuts off their computers at night or on the weekends. There's no recycling plan in place. And that's just the start.
How and who do you think I should approach with my ideas for going green? How do I get them to take me seriously about this and not laugh or think this is just a joke? How can I get them to realize that at the very least this could save the company a lot of money? Thanks!

You have to get upper management or HR on board first. Our company does recycling of paper and of bottles and cans. There are not lights in every socket on the floors to conserve electricity and the network is set up to automaticly turn computers off at night. This is all very minimal though. One of the best things is to use products made out of eco-friendly or recycled products such as paper cups instead of styrofoam and notepads made from recycled paper and so-on.
