What was your latest "ah ha!" moment on Yahoo Answers?

For months I have wondered why some questions that go to a vote seem to get more attention and a lot more people voting than others. I have even asked questions about that in the past...

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArjJ0...

I finally figured the true answer out TODAY all by myself. Now it seems so freaking obvious! Truly a DUH moment.

So what was something you recently discovered about this site that you'd like to share with others?

Update:

In response to those who have asked about the votes...

I can't believe it didn't occur to me before. You see alot of questions go to a vote because the asker never picks a best answer. However, that is usually four to seven days after the question is asked.

Lots of people like to vote because it's a fast way to make extra points (and it's permitted and encouraged.)

So if you click on the VOTE tab in the ask/answer/dicover section it lists newest questions that went to a vote FIRST, by defualt.

So (here it comes), those askers that OPT to have their question go to a vote WAY BEFORE the expirtation will jump to the top of the list on the vote tab. Naturally, voters are lazy and will generally only vote on the first screen or two of questions. Therefore, anytime an asker chooses to have that question go to a vote within the first 24 hours, it will be near the top and receive alot of votes.

That's it. It's that simple, but it took me months to finally realize it.

Hi todvango. Nice to see you again.

    What have a learned lately:

I have learnt that your account can be suspended from posts you have made up to a year ago. ( It happens to Dad, and I was extremely astonished).

I have learnt that whenever you become a very knowledgeable Contributor and always answer questions valuably, certain other Contributors would become extremely jealous and desire to report you just so you don't become popular ( High points)

I have learnt that Members do not appreciate the time to search for their questions; they simply ask questions that were asked over a million times before.

Anyway, it is good to see you again. Hope all is well.

    Happy Holiday.s

Since I started on Yahoo!Answers before most other people, it came as a great revelation to me that people would pick a silly answer over a good answer, for BA. The first time I saw the user say "Yarnlady had the best answer, but this one made me laugh" I was actually shocked. That was when I really wanted to get a lot of points by giving the best answers.

After that, I learned that a lot people were cheating to get lots of points, so I gave up caring about points, and just concentrate on good answers instead.

I discovered sometime ago that the more inane questions get the most stars and answers.
